'All hail Dong Zhuo!
This man, our saviour, has rescued us from the clutches of those evil evil eunuchs! Why, if it wasn't for him, we'd be ruled by a young boy, controlled by a council of half men!
Bah! Bah, I say!
His Magnificent Weightfulness is merely a blessing in disguise!'
The Emperor has died. Ling of the Han ruled tremendously for a good number of years. Sure his high taxes and his... Limpness led to more than a few rebellions - including in that of the Yellow Turbans - but his wisdom prevailed. That is, apart from granting the eunuchs such a massive power base.
When he died, he'd left two rival factions - He Jin and Empress Dowager He. This culminated in the assassination of He Jin, followed by the execution of the eunuchs by the warlord Dong Zhuo. After leading his army through the streets, he seized power, taking the Imperial Capital for himself.
A new age is beckoning, one in which any man may find himself a hero, an age where status comes from the sweat of your brow rather than your lineage, an age where the strong destroy the corrupt and call themselves kings.
This is the age of the Three Kingdoms.
