Game Description

PrologueWar. War never changes. Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything, from God to justice to simple psychotic rage.

In the year 2077, after millennia of armed conflict, the destructive nature of man could sustain itself no longer. The world was plunged into an abyss of nuclear fire and radiation.

But it was not, as some had predicted, the end of the world. Instead, the apocalypse was simply the prologue to another bloody chapter of human history. For man had succeeded in destroying the world...but war, war never changes.

The year is 2277. Four generations have passed since the war, the war that ended it all. The world has changed. Not because of man-made lines drawn in the sand; the energy released in the global conflict has forever altered the landscape and life on this planet as we know it. The world is an alien and bizarre place now. It has become a twisted mockery of itself. Mankind was at the height of his civilization, he was experiencing a golden era in fields of technology and philosophy, Man had realized his own dream into a reality. In the end, every dream has an end and Man woke up to his own nightmare.

Now 200 years after the war, the planet is nothing more than an empty, rotting mutant carcass that struggles on despite acknowledging its own death. Hope is not lost; now from the ashes of the charred remains, man has clamored back to his feet, dusted himself off and begun again.

Larger settlements have begun appearing everywhere as Man has banded together to rebuild what has been lost (or what is left). So much so that there are rampant rumors of ‘governments’ rising up and taking control of any land and resources they can hold. Armies of mercenaries march from town to town enforcing their right to rule on anyone who isn’t able defend themselves against their self-proclaimed manifest destiny.

If that weren’t enough to drive people back into the wastes, tribes of marauders and mad men, that number in the hundreds, roam across the landscape spreading fear and terror to anyone they meet. The truly fortunate are given a swift death, while the unlucky are left to suffer unspeakable horrors for their duration of their short lives. In the darkest corners of the planet, places where men dare not go, creatures, creatures pulled from the very nightmares of man himself walk in search of food and entertainment. Man is learning the painfully unbearable truth that he is no longer at the top of the planet’s food chain.

Super soldiers created to fight in the last war have devolved into raging monsters due to the overwhelming amount radiation they were exposed to; genetic experiments leftover from the Great War have escaped their underground laboratories and secret research facilities. They have started to flourish in this new land, creating new sentient races that are seeking to wrest man’s control from the world he created.

Rare and often unlucky individuals are now being born with unexplainable abilities and mutations. The powers have caused them to be outcast by their own kin, driven out of the towns and cities, labeled as demons and witches. While some see this new evolution of man as a curse, others see the possibilities in their uniqueness and actively seek them out, using them to further their own selfish purposes.

Even stranger still are the planet’s newest immigrants; aliens and creatures, claiming to be from far off worlds or other dimensions entirely, are being now marooned on this world. For unexplainable reasons, they have simply started ‘appearing’ in places all across the globe. At first, they were seen as a threat; bloody skirmishes were fought, and in the end, they had to accept the truth: they were not going home. While some fight this inevitable assimilation, others have begun to accept their fate. Some have found (or created) a niche in man’s society and have become successful business entrepreneurs.

Danger, disease and death stalk mankind around every darkened corner of this new world; man is being threatened by extinction as clean food and water are becoming increasingly difficult to find or manufacture. Man stands at the precipice of his survival; on one side, the yawing abyss that represents the demise of his race, forgotten in the planet’s tragic history; on the other side, a glimmering rose-colored horizon of hope that he will one day rebuild that which he has destroyed and be better for it.
