Game Description

A storm is brewing at sea. The Red Tide grows ever closer, and people are beginning to feel its maddening voice calling out to them in their dreams. Desperate people have turned to the strange new cults that are popping up around the isles, while others have sunk into drugs and debauchery to alleviate their despair. The once fecund farmlands of eastern Ektau are no longer able to support its burgeoning population, leading droves of poor migrants to abandon their homes, heading out into dangerous territory to find their livelihoods.

The past ten years has seen more bandits, raiders, and pirates along the northern expanse of Xian territory than the past 100 years since the Ravaging combined. Many see each raid as merely a sign of the times, but not all think these events are isolated. Whispered rumors say that the Shogunate of the North is behind each of these attacks, as opening moves of an undeclared war against the Mandarinate of Xian.

Regardless of these rumors, you find yourself aboard a merchant vessal between Hirosaki and Kaangdal, two large settlements in the northern territory under Xian rule. The ship has no destination, and carries no cargo but that of you and your fellows; vagabonds, criminals, slaves, and sellswords alike. You have been pressed into service by a local magistrate and promised many things: a pardon for your crimes, release from servitude, a share of pirate's booty. Now all you have to do is wait for them to come...
