Tales of Bright Haven
Emerging from a brilliant golden age, the kingdom of Bright Haven is flourishing. But, the brighter the sun, the darker the shadows. Rapid growth has brought about instability, providing opportunities for evil right along side the good. Problems caused by men and monsters are erupting all across the land. The current king is a good one, but he is growing desperate.
A decade past, the kingdom saw its worst rebellion ever. It was crushed, but at the cost of the King's heir. Instead of turning the kingdom's course back towards prosperity, things have been growing worse with every passing season. The great lords of the land bicker over petty differences, bandits raid and pillage the roadways, and disease stalk the common folk. Monsters not seen for centuries have reemerged, hungry. The forests and wild places are no longer safe. Nor are the dark alleys of the cities.
The King has become fixated on a legend as old as his kingdom. The legend claims that the first king of Bright Haven possessed an array of powerful relics with which he could overcome any danger. However, upon the old king's death, the relics were secreted away for safe keeping within the kingdom's bounds. The current King believes that now is the time to reclaim them!
To this end, five years ago he called together the greatest knights in all the kingdom to his court. He set them to the task of hunting the relics. The knights readily accepted and set out to much fanfare and excitement. Months went by and the knights trickled back. But not all of them. Not even most of them. The survivors whispered tales of hardship and horror, enough to chill the heart. And the worst of it was, they came back empty handed.
Some dreams are harder to kill than others, and for the King this is one of them. Once more, he is prepared to call forth another Hunt for the relics, this time any willing to take up the cause are granted leave to do so. However, the ordeal promises to be deadly dangerous and the faith in the crown has been shaken. Will anyone answer the call?
