Business and daily living has been made easier through the use of Difference and Analytical engines, controlling everything from traffic signs to cashless credit transactions. Communication has been made simple through the Type-Telegraph, with some advanced models sporting new pin screens, allowing for three dimensional images to be transmitted without need of a stereoscope! And through the magic of electricity, you can even Telegraph overseas.
Not only has civilian life been improved, but there have been advances in how we wage war as well. Steam driven juggernauts move across terrain, untraversable by steam carriage or horse. Armed ornithoptors patrol the skies, keeping an eye out for pirates. Etheric beam weaponry and lightning cannons are beginning to replace gunpowder weapons. And in some cases, soldiers are even being replaced by automatons, fitted with advanced yet small analytical engines pioneered by leading edge Swiss Gearsmiths...
