Game Description

Thoras is in an uproar. In the last few weeks, guards on the city walls have been murdered at their posts; a watchman was hurled screaming from the Hightower; fires have broken out in the city; warehouses filled with goods have burned to the ground; conjured monsters have appeared in the marketplaces and done a great deal of damage; and water termites have appeared in Mirror Bay, doing damage to both docks and ships.

No design or pattern can be found in the murders, fires, or conjurations. Both the Laangor army and Thoras city guards have been targeted. Multiple trade houses and nobles have lost goods in the destruction and fires. The conjured monsters have appeared at random with no set time or place of attack.

There is rising enmity between all factions in the city, and hard words are being spoken. Wild and exaggerated rumors run through the streets, from the courts of the Duke to the back alleys of Old Quarter.

The separate factions all claim innocence and blame each other for the crimes. The Veiled Society of Rogues has even come forward to disavow the actions and openly blames the Brotherhood. The Son's or Hardin suspect the Wolfguard are trying to turn the city back over to the wilds. Each merchant house blames the others. Even the different sects of The Five are pointing fingers, blaming everyone else for not doing enough to quell the fires.

The streets are not safe at night. Old hatreds and long forgotten rivalries and feuds have resurfaced. There are clashes between Laangor and Thoras guards, mobs of locals and foreigners, and between various street gangs. Usually these are broken up before they turn deadly, but the fights are becoming more frequent as the people are put more and more on edge.

The Duke and his advisors are very concerned over the growing unrest. It has been decided that they must do something - anything - in order to show the people he is still in charge. As the posted rewards are not bringing any results, the Duke has called for adventurers with a reputation to come and aid the city in this time of need.
