- There was a deer named Running Moon who sought to cross a road near a river bridge late one foggy night. He leapt into the road from the underbrush. Forthwith, a passing truck struck him in the side and bowled the poor creature over the bank into the river. The driver stopped on the bridge and leapt from the vehicle to lean over the railing and peer into the rushing waters. They waited and watched for sign but Running Moon was never seen again…
