Use the Serenity character sheet.
Your PC lives in Florida, anywhere north of Orlando, and is a member of the 22nd Brigade of the Florida National Guard (fictional unit designator) currently deployed to Jacksonville as Hospital security. Your PC doesn't need to be from Florida, just live there.
Start at the Recruit level with everything civilian oriented, job and hobbies, etc.. Leave all the military training off the sheet for now.
A short (two or three paragraphs) bio.

Bartholomew Korban IV aka Pastor Bart
Civilian Job: Pastor
A well built man with striking features, he's the type of person that stands out. His light green eyes and short black hair contrast his tanned skin. He keeps himself in good shape, not overly muscular, but going for runs in the morning and other outdoor activities keep him lean and strong. When he's not activated, he's usually in comfortable clothes such as khaki shorts and a collared shirt. Easily he could be mistaken for a golfer sans the funny hats and shoes.
One thing that could be said about this man is that he never utters a negative word about anyone. When he's not activated with his unit he fills the role of an associate pastor at his baptist church and he lives by the principles he teaches. When training and deployments got rough, he was there with an encouraging word. When the men and women were down, he'd lift their spirits. When he speaks, people listen, and things get done. As a non-combatant he can't actually be in charge, but that doesn't stop him from motivating people to get the orders issued by others accomplished.
Born to missionaries Bartholomew was named after one of the Apostles. His family had returned to the states from South America to have the child on American soil to avoid any conflicts he may face later in life not being a natural born citizen. Once he was old enough to travel without risk, his family had went out on missions again. This time they traveled through parts of Africa and the Middle East. Having been moved around so much he was able to learn much more about world cultures and their beliefs and this gave him a chance to learn how to interact better with other people.
At a young age he began evangelizing and being younger it helped him to reach the youth of the other nations. When he was 18, and with his parents retiring to Florida, he decided he wanted to pursue a different life. He enjoyed the travel and interaction with other peoples so he decided the best way for him to preach and reach others was to join the military. He ended up going into the reserves and was trained as a pilot, even more of a chance for him to spread the word when he's literally flying through the air. So far he's enjoyed it vastly and the friendships he's created are some he hopes to carry on the rest of his life.
When building your backgrounds, you should know that the limitied space I refered to that the PCs would start the game in is a medevac helicopter. There are only nine people on this chopper. They are:
Crew Chief (in charge of the chopper)
Flight Nurse (in charge of the patients)
Doctor (ride along)
Victoria Miltimore (Patient)
Ashley Miltimore (Patient)
Two Military Police
The Doctor and the two patients are NPCs. You can choose among the others for your PC. The chopper crew are members of the 22nd Brigades Air Mobile Squadron nicknamed 'Dustoff'. The MPs are from the 222nd MP Company nicknamed 'Triple Deuce'. Once again these are fictitious unit designators. The commander of the 22nd Brigade is Brigadier General Howard Miltimore. Victoria is his wife and Ashley is his daughter. His only son was a marine platoon leader KIA in the battle of Fallujah. He is greatly respected by just about everyone in his command.

Still not completely done but here is the working copy of the sheet...
Daniel has the look of a man who grew up on the hard streets of some inner city. Something about his appearance keeps others from makin too much trouble. That was one of the skills that helped him after he became an MP. He has dark eyes that are hard to read and dark hair to match. His nose looks like it has been broken too many times. He is tall and lean with a quick smile for the ladies.
Standing slightly taller than most women her age, with a tone, but not quite athletic build. With shoulder length red hair and brown eyes, she bears a strong resemblance to her mother. Despite her best attempts to tan under the Florida sun, the woman's complexion remains fair, but not pale. She keeps her herself in shape with a combination of yoga, running, and swimming.
A wise-cracking skeptic at heart, Amy often fires off a quip or snide remark before her brain registers the words. Always up for a good time, she doesn't go out of her way to be in the spotlight, but certainly doesn't object to the attention either.
Born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan Amy grew up the daughter of a factory worker (father) and a regional Irish dance instructor (mother). Amy had your stereotypical upbringing, youth sports, certain clique of friends, and trying to become one of the "it" girls in school.
That all changed just before her junior year of high school; the car parts factory her father worked for finally went belly up. With her mom's limited source of income, the family was forced to make certain sacrifices just to scrap by. Sacrifices that included depleting Amy's entire college savings. By the time she graduated high school, her and her family were relying on state assistance just to survive. Knowing her chances of becoming a doctor without a college degree was next to impossible, she enlisted, hoping the GI Bill would help pay for college.
Now, with just months left during her enrollment, the woman is greatly debating whether to re-enlist or drop out. College is the ultimate goal, but she is currently getting a solid education here and is finding this Flight Nurse a fun and exciting job. Who knows, maybe she'll stay and try and be a doctor for the service.
