The Top of the Mountain
"Come over here, child. Let me tell you a story."
So many adventurers started just this way, with a grandfather or elder sitting you down and telling you stories of a far-off land with wonderous sights. He would delight you in grand, epic adventurers with untold riches and honor at the end. The good always defeated evil in the end. Then you grew up, and realized that those stories aren't the way things really are. There is not always untold treasures at the end of an adventure, and often evil did triumph. Sometimes you had to DO evil to accomplish what you set out to do. Life is not black and white. You learned that very quickly. So when stories and rumors about activity starting up near the top of Wyvern Mountain, the old stories you heard come back to you. This is the same mountain that myth held had dragons and wyverns and other hordes of monsters. This is the same mountain that held untold treasures, according to some. But you also know stories aren't the way things really are. You know other adventurers have climbed the mountain, only to return empty handed or not at all. So, why are rumors about the mountain popping up now all of a sudden? Is there something new inside? ---------------------------------------------- --- --- --- --- Name: Race: Class: Background/History: --- Answer the following questions in the Voice of your character --- 1. Why are you an adventurer? 2. You have the choice of saving an innocent girl or killing the wizard that holds her captive. Choosing to save the girl ensures the wizard escapes, leaving no trail for you to track. Choosing to kill the wizard ensures the death of the girl. Which do you do and why? 3. How do you like your eggs cooked and why? 4. If you were a king/queen, what would be your first edict? 5. What is your one regret in life? |

Story comes first, but what sorts of challenges are you planning/plotting - Combat? Mystery? Puzzles? Social? This, that, and some other one?
Any constraints on world building in the character apps? |

I am interested. Have had a couple character concepts bobbing around in my mind that I would love to try out. What sort of restrictions are you placing on material for characters? Just so I know what races/classes are open to me.

Why are you an adventurer? Baggrin stands before the campfire, pacing back and forth. Listening to the question he scoffs, "Adventurer? Eh woulden call mehself an adventurer. De Erth ehn Nature need teh be protected.. Wher'ver dhere is cah'flict ehn turmoil teh one true vehtim is teh Erth. Eh go wher'ver Nature asks meh ta go."You have the choice of saving an innocent girl or killing the wizard that holds her captive. Choosing to save the girl ensures the wizard escapes, leaving no trail for you to track. Choosing to kill the wizard ensures the death of the girl. Which do you do and why? The jovial look that was spread across Baggrins face disappears in an instant. Leaning over the fire he whispers very intently, "No evel is great nough teh sac'fice ehn inn'cent. Eh'd do ever'dhing in meh power teh save teh young lass." Straightening up he instinctively pats out the embers that had caught hold of his beard without a second thought. How do you like your eggs cooked and why? Once again a smile seems to split his beard in two, "Ever'one knows us Dwarfs like ehr eggs runny! Wit an ale on teh side, or tree! He laughs hard, doubly over trying to catch his breath. When he finally stops and stands back up he once again instinctively pats out any embers that may have caught hold of his beard. If you were a king/queen, what would be your first edict? The smile on his face this time doesn't disappear, but it does slip a little bit, "Pah! Kings and Qeens. Dhey be teh firs dhing dhats wrong wit the world today. But, in teh spirrit ehf teh qust'ion Eh suppose Eh'd have teh stop teh destruction of nature. What is your one regret in life? Once again his good nature and smile seem to vanish. "Dhat be a powerful question. Not one Eh am teh take lightly. So, ye'll speak ehf dhis teh no man, hear? Eh had teh kill a man. Dedn't des'rve teh die, but eh was goin ta enways. Tre'passed inta bear terr'tories. Got mauled fer it. When h foun ehm he was ina lotta pain, 'oldin on teh his own in'ards ehn all. Dhere was nuthin' Eh could do teh save ehm, and he was goin teh die enways. Ded'n want ehm teh suffer.....wish Eh coulda done more." He pats another ember out as he straightens up. Looks back over the campfire one last time, shakes his head and walks off. Done with the questions. |
