Character Creation
 
For ease, please post a single thread here with your rolls and application in it (roll tags are probably neater than dice, but whatever you prefer).

Character Creation Rules
Level: 5 (so 10,000XP)
Sources: More or less any WotC books or web supplements, within reason, but see below.
Races: Any
Classes: No "spellcasting" classes of any kind (except incarnum ones). No spells, no powers, no invocations or pact magic or shadowcasting or truenaming. You get the idea. Martial adepts are OK, and those from MoI are obviously OK. See here for more details.
Alignment: Any, but you need to have some reason to be with the group. Being a mercenary is fine.
Abilities: 32 point-buy or roll 4d4+2 six times (6m4d4+2z). If you choose to roll, you can't take the point buy, unless you roll total stat mods of +3 or worse (in which case you may reroll or take point buy).
HP: Max at L1, roll or take average afterwards.
Gear: A single item of up to 4,000gp (see below) and 5,000gp plus half of anything you didn't spend on that single item. No other single item should be worth 4,000gp or more.
My item is a Rust Bag of Tricks, given to me by my old mentor. It's worth 3k so I get 5k + 1k/2 = 5,500gp of other stuff, but non of it can cost more than 4k

Submission Guidelines
Personally, I find writing up characters quite effort-intensive and as this will be a one-shot, not guaranteed to go on for a long time, I don't want an essay. Do please include the following details:
  • Name, Race, Class(es)
  • A brief description of your character's appearance and personality (really, doesn't need to be more than a short paragraph for each)
  • A few words on how your character got one of their items (i.e. the up-to-4k one) and what it means to them. It's OK if this is just "I bought it"/"I was given it" etc, but flesh it out a bit.
  • How would your character react if faced with a) a locked door they must pass, b) a really scary monster, c) being thrown into a prison cell?
  • Why is your character hunting Necrocarnum Zombies? Are you a Lawful Good Soulborn, out to protect the realm? Or just a mercenary, hired to do the same? A short paragraph is enough.
  • What's your favourite D&D 3.5 supplement? (I'll give you a clue...)

Name: Drubo
Race: Goblin (tenatatively, although I'd like to be on the small side of goblins even... maybe a forest gnome instead... a really ugly one, heh.)
Class: Totemist (tentatively)
Appearance: Small goblin with huge lopsided ears, oversized hands and feet, and a protruding lower jaw with teeth jutting out. Wild hair, plain metal hoops in his ears, pierced nose with a small bone, and an assortment of "tribal" clothing. Chomping at this own upper lip he looks like nothing short of a dark olive bulldog crossed with a malnourished 8 year old boy.
How he got his most precious item... Baba'gaz'ra, his magical neclace that grants him super-juju powers!
ObstaclesA locked door: Drubo looks at the door impatiently, the smell of the foodstuffs in the pantry making his mouth water, a line of drool from between his teeth strikes the floor. Hopping up and down for a moment Drubo challenges the door with a high pitched keening yell before he rushes it and frantically beats at it with a small metal bar. He repeats this process over and over until by chance the metal bar sinks between two of the boards that make up the door. Grinning, a ghastly sight indeed, he rubs his hands together with glee and does a small capering dance for a few moments. Then, pushing the bar from side to side he manages to pry one of the pieces of wood loose enough that it falls from the doorway. Silly big people think they can keep Drubo from food. Yum-yums await Drubos' empty belly! He thinks as he squirms his way through the opening into the pantry, not for a moment considering the past twenty minutes of his antics silly at all.

The boogeyman: Scream, run, hide, creep back and spy on him, laugh at him scratch his bum, kill him while he sleeps.

In the hoosegow: Ahh, the luxury! Appreciate the spacious living quarters, wonderful food, and safety from all the dangerous creatures. Nirvana itself!

Motivations for the Hunt: Ughrubrubguh said on his deathbed that Drubo was the hero of legend. The only thing that would grant Ughrubrubguh peace in the spirit world was for Drubo to follow the path of a great slayer. Thus Drubo finds himself, his cowardly, weak self, hating every moment of danger, stupidly putting himself in harms way, because he has no other choice. He does a lot of running and hiding though, so, take the danger with a grain of salt.

Name: Aranyanare Lieraewen Nien'Faroniel, though commonly goes by Anya
Race: Elf
Class: Incarnate (lv3), Monk (lv2)
Appearance: Aranyanare is slim and graceful like all elves, slightly on the smaller side for her race. Her hair is copper red and falls down to her shoulders, always tied back so not to annoy her in battles. Her skin is fair, with maybe a slight brown tint. Her eyes are sparkling emerald green, turning darker towards the pupil. She typically wears practical yet graceful clothes, made of elven materials and leather along with her armour.
