What Mellavin doesn't know: Mellavin's mother is an afflicted werebear. She fled her home-mountains, following her newly acquired nature. Roaming the country, she met with a wandering dwarven cleric. The cleric was doing missionary work, spreading the support for his god. They got a brief, but intense relationship that ended in her fleeing again before the next full moon, unable to face the truth of her disease. Not much later she found out she was pregnant. Considering herself unfitted to raise a child, she left him at night in the temple of a tribe of wood elves. Be it by miracle, ritual, or just luck, the disease didn't pass on to him. The wood elves found him in their temple of Ehlonna. He has no idea who his parents are or why they left him. He picked up the love for nature from the elves and more in particular from the priest that raised him. He followed the way of Ehlonna and stayed in the temple for his entire childhood, which lasted longer than usual for dwarves, but short for elves. Due to his elven education, he shaved and had Elven as mother tongue. He was always nice, but as he grew older he regularly had attacks of anger. Maybe the feral nature of his mother showed through? What angered him the most was harm to nature, taking without giving: fundamental things, and he could get into a blind fury. At age 65, when he considers himself an adult, he decides to head out, see the world, find his parents, and if injustice would happen to come in his path, make an end to it. Needing money for his survival, he'll take the odd quest. Meeting other dwarves, he started growing a beard, although always keeping it rather short and unbraided. He's trying to learn the dwarven language, but is slow to learn.
