Description
He stands, feet apart staring at you. A stout, swarthy human, worn dark brown leather with new buckles, long black boots, faded green cloak. His skin is lightly tanned, hair cropped close to the skull, his hands old and used to labour. His tired, dark brown eyes gleam with intelligence and a wry smile rests easy upon his face. Cleanly shaven, a dimple is seen central to the chin.
Personality
Baralis is of the kind whom will give folk a fair shake to prove themselves. They can cross him once for there be no second chance. Other races well as long as they be fair, he is. Screw him over and well it happens only once if he has the power/opportunity to balance the scales. Having been on the road working the caravans for 2 years any naivety has long passed and though not jaded, he does show some cynicism about the world.

He whittled, he created, molded, unearthed the form within the billet of aged oak. The wood grain lived in his hands. Wooden animals and elaborate carved figurines were hoarded by his younger sisters; like dragons hoarding gold and gems. When something broke or needed mending, Baralis's deft hands soon had it working like it was new. Baralis is the third son of Remus and Isolde Draegan. A peasant family, which worked the land in a hamlet, outside Silverymoon. The Draegan family struggled for several poor seasons and a vermin plague when Baralis turned 13 nigh extinguished them all. Remus worried he couldn't support all he loved, spoke with Naeth Robilar [owner and proprietor of "Naeth's Nails, Pegs, Locks & Other Woodfinery"] to gain an apprenticeship for his son. Naeth after viewing several of Baralis's hand carved wooden animals soon agreed. A week later, with a cart full of timber cut from the far pasture, Baralis started his apprenticeship. In the beginning, Baralis learnt little; stacking timber just delivered, making deliveries of finished items or sweeping the floors to remove sawdust and shavings. His curiosity however in how Naeth did his work was the catalyst for change. What started out as a boring and tedious apprenticeship soon evolved into a budding career. What most folk didn't know about Naeth, he was a retired rogue, now an advisor to a local gang of rogues. So by day, Baralis learnt the trade of a carpenter, locksmith and trapmaker. By night he learnt the trade of the rogue. His nimble fingers and agile mind allowed the apprentice to grasp skills which older, more experienced journeymen still failed to achieve. By the age of 18, Baralis had the beginning of wanderlust. Stories of adventurers, in taverns and inns, sparking his imagination. After a long discussion with Naeth, he was pronounced skilled enough to be a journeyman and now free to choose between the path of the road or work. Baralis toiled hard for six months till he had accumulated enough coin to purchase needed equipment. On the night before Baralis's departure from hardy, Naeth gifted Baralis with a set of beautifully crafted lock picks. So began his life upon the road, a caravan guard job brought him eventually to the Goblin's Tankard, a local landmark in Cormyr. Rumored to be the hitch point of many an adventuring group and a likely spot as any to find some stout and trusted companions for the road ahead.
