Description
Penelope has blue eyes, a thin face, and short, blonde hair. She has two scar marks to the left of her stomach from when she tripped onto a pitchfork growing up. She wears her chain shirt underneath an off-white shirt and skirt, mostly concealing it. On her back is a gray-brown cloak and on her feet are well-worn leather shoes. Her sword is underneath her cloak on her back simply because she doesn't like to have it bumping her legs as she walks.
Personality
"I like to think that I'm kind to my friends, especially since they know not to give me their children. I also like to think that they would say I'm clever and maybe even occasionally witty. I also like cards; it's a lot like fighting, you either take the hand or don't, kill or be killed. I don't like being killed. "I'm not so fond of everyone else. They're always wanting something. Same as me, I guess, although I have the decency to recognize it. You have to be honest with yourself, otherwise you get confused. "People need to take care of themselves. I'm not so naive as to think that anyone can be happy and rich; there's more luck to life than work, but it doesn't hurt to make your luck, or take someone else's. "I like to have money to spend, but I'd never flaunt it. Money is good for what it can do. Used properly, it can help you survive and get you what you want. Improperly, it just gets you killed."
Character Traits
Penelope Reed grew up on a family farm west of Diamond Lake. She hated farming, but when she was old enough to help the family defend themselves from the sporadic goblin raids, she found that she loved fighting. The first time she killed a goblin, stabbing him through the throat, she started cackling madly as his blood covered her hands, scaring the remaining goblins off. Her family didn't talk about the incident, but she started feeling less attached to them. Afterward, she started practicing with the various weapons in the family, finding that she favored the easily maneuvered short sword. Due to her developing skill with a sword, she started going with the grain shipments into Diamond Lake. During her stays, she learned to play various card games, preferring the ones she could cheat in. Eventually she decided that she had had enough of farm life, so on her next trip into Diamond Lake she sent the farm carts back with only a terse note saying good bye and went to look for work.
