Personality Traits
Driven, passionate, rash, cynical, mistrusting... all would describe Lori rather well. Despite her obvious adventurous spirit, she doesn't share the happy-go-lucky approach of many would-be kindred spirits, ultimately only looking out for number one, preferring to rationalize her actions through circular logic. While often times genuinely friendly and outgoing, Lori is highly unforgiving when roused. In many respects, she tries to do good, but prefers to deal with her own problems first, rather than concern herself with those of others.
Mannerisms and Appearance
Lori is a young woman with an air of confidence and elegance about her. She is remarkably slim, something she is rather sensitive about as it often leads to her getting pushed around by others, both literally and figuratively. Her shoulder-length hair is dark brown, the same colour as her eyes. Lori usually wears a dark grey cloak over her leather armor, and generally dresses in a practical manner, preferring dark clothing. Lori never takes off her amulet of Sehanine. Unless necessary, she rarely bothers hiding her current mood.

Background & Other Notes
Lorianna Maerin was born as the daughter to an arranged (but happy) wedding between two noble families, and seemed to have a life of luxury and posh, pampered parties ahead of her. Unfortunately for her, this was not to be. Already at a young age she learned that her father had a remarkably poor business sense, and was gradually wasting the family's fortune on increasingly-desperate get-rich-quick schemes. At the same time, her mother's promiscuity and torn love between her legitimate husband and many secret lovers made the Maerin family the laughing stock of the town. Lorianna, for her part, undeniably turned into a spoilt and uncaring brat, any sense of idealism soon purged from her young mind. As such, it should come as no surprise that, at age 19, she wasn't particularly bothered by the news of her parents dying in a fire while she was out of town. In fact, it only meant that she no longer would have to stand in the shadow of her mother's ill reputation. Predictably enough, her parent's inheritance turned out to be a pittance, leaving Lorianna to fend for herself. Preferring to cut any ties with the home town she had grown to dislike, she instead took to wandering the world, hoping to find her fortune somewhere else. It didn't take long before Lorianna realized that without a steady income the wanderer's life simply was inefficient in the long term. She also learned that a kind word here and there helped a great deal as far ingratiating herself in new communities was concerned, especially in towns where no one had already formed a negative opinion of her like in her hometown. She thus felt herself appreciated for the first time in years and, in turn, became increasingly interested in the lives of others. Eventually she settled down and found employment as a fruit vendor. A considerable step down on the social ladder, but at the time, she hardly cared. She was well-liked in her new town and was in a relationship with a local in less than a year. Everything seemed to be going fine until her fiancee died in a hunting accident. This shook up Lorianna rather badly, although she would come to feel the real sting only later. By then, she was really hard up for money, as business had dwindled due to a poor season and Lorianna had already been in debt for several months. Surprisingly quickly, she turned to thieving, promising herself to somehow repay her victims later. It would prove to be the one promise she was never going to keep. Lorianna quickly discovered that stealing from others was laughably easy, especially since most of the people in her community placed an explicit trust in her anyway. She'd found her own wonderful loving town to live in for now, but she knew it wouldn't last. After only a few weeks it had already become clear a thief was about. Not much later the locals began to become suspicious of Lorianna, and in the days afterwards those suspicions only grew stronger. Fearing reprisal, perhaps in the form of vigilante justice, Lorianna settled on the one thing she knew that worked: run. So, once again she left, hoping to find more luck elsewhere. To her surprise, she discovered that her name preceded her. When she arrived at one of the most prominent trade centers in the realm, her thieving attempts lasted all of one day. By then a local thieves' guild had contacted her and given her the choice to either repay her recently-stolen goods and skip town, or join them, giving away half of her future earnings. She unwisely chose the latter, adopted the moniker "Lori", and hoped to find a sense of belonging and companionship among her fellow thieves. Instead, she found herself hurled face-first into a cut-throat business where everyone seemed to plot against eachother and most people seemed perfectly willing to rat their own comrades out if it served their best interests. Worse, as Lori came to realize during her stay, she found herself forced to do exactly the same as well, just to survive. After crossing the wrong person one too many times when she wouldn't allow herself to be intimidated or blackmailed by those she had hoped would understand her situation, she was kicked out of the guild and blacklisted. Lori didn't stay to find out what that was supposed to mean. Finding herself on the road yet again, Lori now currently resides in the town of Saltspree, still in what seems to be perpetual poverty. Far away from those that might recognize her from any of the three towns she's run from, she hopes to start life anew here - treating others just as she hopes they would treat her. Having heard rumours of a nearby labyrinth containing either untold riches, secrets or horrors (depending on who's telling the story), she has made it clear to some of the locals that if anyone is ever planning to mount an expedition into the labyrinth of Kaegro-Kothar-Hurthi, she'd be greatly interested in coming along. She fears that it's only going to end as badly as all of her other attempts at finding the means to live a normal life, but then she doesn't intend to let that keep her from trying.
