Description
Tall for a kobold, but a little more slight than usual for one of his race. Completely covered in scales, but even darker than normal for one of his race. His scales are of such a deep red color that in all but the brightest direct light they appear black. Thin tendrils of smoke can be seen wafting up from his nostrils from time to time. His eyes are a bright, deep red, and run through with flecks of orange when angered. His nickname comes from his right incisor, which is obviously twice as long as normal for one of his race. Occasionally this leads to a more pronounced reptilian lisp when speaking common. His dress is utilitarian, brown and black mostly. He wears short breeches of dark leather, a satchel, and a dark cloak, lined with a silk red as the fires of the volcano near his tribal home.
Personality
Smug, superior, brash, and definitely has a chip on his shoulder. He feels that the kobold are superior to all other forms of life, but realises that publicizing that opinion will just bring trouble to himself and other dragon-kin, so he bites his tongue - most of the time. Long-Fang is the champion of his tribe, and likes nothing more than showing others that kobolds are not to be trifled with. However, all that said, he respects skill in those around him, including those who show combat prowess. From this respect, more can emerge. He can be a terrible enemy, or a loyal friend to those that have worked with him.

The small, cloaked figure approached the gate to the city, a scaled tail swishing slowly behind him as he walked. The markings on his cloak, shield, and spear mark him as member of the K'Ganul'Othus tribe, a tribe of kobolds that live near and on Garyx's Aerie, a volcano surrounded by impenetrable jungle some fifty miles away. The relations with that tribe have been infrequent, but (relatively) peaceful. As long as the two peoples stay out of each others business, there is no problem - and the trade has actually been somewhat profitable on both sides, the kobolds trading gems mined from their volcano home for items from Ispardine. However, it was still a kobold, and the guard at the gate was both bored and inexperienced. "Halt! State yer business!" as the armor clad human stepped in front of the small figure, towering over him and leering down. The kobold stopped quietly, then slowly looked up at the guard, his snout sticking out in front of the hood, scales a deep, deep red glistening in the sun. "Governor calls for someone to reclaim Hsssssalma Temple. I come." A pause. "And you move." The guard is taken aback, not used to having people - outsiders - kobolds! - tell him what to do. "Now listen here short-" then he stops. The kobold breathes out his nostrils sharply, a stream of dark smoke smacking the guard in the chest. A rivulet of green runs down his oversized incisor, dripping to the ground, sizzling loudly upon impact. And from deep within the recesses of the hood, bright red pupils flare, peering into the face of the human, unflinching and unblinking. A low growl begins to sound - "Right! Have a good day, uh, sir!" The guard steps aside smartly. The kobold continues walking into the city as if nothing happened, not even giving the guard another glance. The small figure is quickly lost from view in the hustle and bustle, but the observant ones will watch the reactions of the crowd - be they curious or fearful - to judge the kobold's current location. ------------------------------------------------ The Egg-Mothers overseeing the Hatchery took one look at Long-Fang when he emerged and whisked him away to the priests. The coloration bespoke of great potential, and he was nurtured and encouraged early on. As such, he was given barest minimal exposure to mining and trapmaking, and was trained only as a warrior. Imagine the priests pleasure when the infant exhaled and almost burned down the Hatchery. Long-Fang was but a youngling when Shivan the Mad last appeared in the lands of the K'Ganul'Othus tribe, but he rose to the defense as all the other warriors did. It did not go well - many kobolds lost their lives, buying time for the tribe to retreat to the tunnels, hiding away from the larger creatures that could not chase after them. Long-Fang himself had to be dragged back to safety after he fell unconscious. The tribe rebuilt as they always do after the warlord had moved on, with Long-Fang taking a primary role in defending the tribe during the chaos that inevitably follows such times. He grew in skill and control, fighting off stragglers from the warlord and new creatures that moved in. His legend and stature continues to grow to this day within the tribe. He led teh dragon-kin against encroachment of the Januk tribe of feral goblins, hordes of gibberling ravagers, and slew in single combat the feared ogre Man-Gok, taking his head and flying it back to the ogre tribe and flinging it down at the feet of his father, warning them all what would happen if they encroach once more on kobold lands. Long-Fang was the one that brought back word of the discovery of the Tomb. The chieftain, K"Thuss'Laxus, immediately dispatched Long-Fang with a letter for the Governor regarding the Tomb and one of the contents within.... ------------------------------------------------ Long-Fang's immediate goal is the retrieval of the Ruby of T'Chak'Sang for his tribe. He is willing to forgo any other loot or treasure to acquire the gem - it is the entire reason he is here - but he won't tell anyone else that of course! His secondary goal is to find more about and any assistance for the impending invasion of Shivan the Mad - alone, the kobolds will be unable to defend against Shivan. ------------------------------------------------ Letter to Governor Geordin from K'Thuss'Laxus, written in a clear, precise hand in perfect common: Governor Geordin, ruler of Ispardine, The bearer of this letter is Thuss'Maxus, Long-Fang in your tongue. He is our tribal champion and bravest warrior. He will be of great assistance in reclaiming the Temple of Hsalma. In the spirit of our continued good relations, I request that Thuss'Maxus be allowed to accompany the mission to clear the Temple. In the name of our tribe, I claim the Ruby of T'Chak'Sang as payment. As your sages can tell you, the Ruby is the first gemstone taken from the mines of our home, Garyx's Aerie. A stone the size of a clenched fist, it was stolen from us by Hsalma's minions and interred with him. In our continued spirit of friendship, we desire its return. (More superfluous extensions of friendship) As well, you have doubtless heard of the return of Shivan the Mad. He and his band will be approaching our lands in several months. I return for assistance with this impending threat, I will give you Long-Fang for three years for use in your armies as liaison and ambassador, so that we may learn from each other. He must return to return the Ruby and defend our lands from Shivan, but he is yours otherwise for the duration of our agreement. May this be the beginning of a growth between our peoples, and let these small trinkets be a gift to you from us. (Long-Fang has a small pouch of uncut gems freshly mined from the volcano) K'Thuss'Laxus, chieftain of the K'Ganul'Othus ------------------------------------------------ K'Thuss'Laxus - chieftain of the K'Ganul'Othus tribe. He has dispatched Long-Fang to Ispardine to press their claim to the ancient Ruby of T'Chak'Sang. An ancient, wise, intelligent ruler, he has loved long enough to lose the hubris of youth currently in abundance in Long-Fang, and has decided that survival of the tribe overrides the pride and desire to handle tribal issues themselves. He has also decided that Long-Fang needs more exposure to other races and cultures, as Long-Fang may very well be chieftain himself one day. Shivan the Mad - Psychopathic troll, from some strange lineage that gives him skin harder than granite, freakishly strong, and possessed of massive willpower, he exults only in carnage and blood. Wielding a double battle axe, with yard-long blades, he and his army make periodic raids throughout the borderlands away from the main cities. His warband consists of fearless giants, ogres, fire-dwellers, and other horrors. Shivan has been working his way up the River Chrysogus, and the lands of the K'Ganul'Othus tribe are next.... ----------------------------------- Level 4 ability bonus: Con Level 8 ability bonus: Con Feats: Enlarge Breath http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl'Enlarge_Breath; per Greyen, can use as full round action every round Entangling Exhalation http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl'Entangling_Exhalation Flyby Attack http://realmshelps.dandello.net/cgi-bin/feats.pl?Flyby_Attack Invocations Aquatic Adaptation (24 hours) - Gain swim speed equal to land speed, breathe underwater, breath weapon works normally while submerged regardless of type of effect Endure Exposure (24 hours) - grant myself or person touched effects of the endure elements spell.
