Description
Cera is slightly taller than your average human woman, but not so much as to be off-putting. She has wavy red hair that flows down to her shoulders, she keeps it out of her eyes with a simple headband. Her deep emerald eyes provide a sharp contrast to her fiery locks; this, combined with her fair, flawless skin and gentle facial features gives her an enchanting presence that sets her apart from any crowd. She wears some jewelry, including a simple gold bracelet, a pair of peridot earrings and a green crystal magically affixed to her forehead. When adventuring, she wears simple, practical clothes: a gray cloak over a green shirt and skirt, under which is a shirt of mithral chain. She also wears a pair of supple leather boots. When among the upper-class, she wears a variety of finely tailored dresses and gowns.
Personality
Gifted with beauty and a friendly countenance, Cera is normally quick to make friends. She is not afraid to manipulate people to get what she wants, but she is generally not malicious. Cera knows how to use all of her assets to sway people's emotions, and she is not above flaunting her femininity to further her goals (although she usually doesn't take it any further than innocent flirting). Despite this, she hates being considered a damsel that needs saving or protecting. She is fiercely independent and despises having to follow strict orders from anyone. However, ever since she began attracting fanatic followers about six months ago, Cera has slowly been changing. Little by little, she has been becoming more cynical, more aloof. Constantly having dozens of people following her around has grated on her patience: she is now quicker to anger than before and occasionally loses track of her emotions (whereas before, she rarely if ever broadcast her true feelings).

Background: Born to a minor noble family, Cera Passeri was always waited on hand and foot by her family's servants. Not only was she never left alone, but she had to follow the strict customs and rules expected of a noble's daughter. She had always despised this, she would rather take care of herself and make her own rules. When her psionic talents began emerging during adolescence, she used it as an excuse to leave home: she demanded that she be be allowed to study and nurture her powers in an academy. Her father, not knowing what to do with his newly-magical daughter, agreed to her demands and shipped her off to an arcane academy. Granted her freedom, she studied hard at the academy, but soon realized that she was different from the other students. She learned that her powers were not arcane in nature: she was not a sorceress, as she and her father had thought, but instead a psion, manifesting her abilities from within her own mind instead of manipulating the inherent power of the multiverse. She was exhilarated at this revelation: she and her powers operated outside of the accepted laws of magic and her abilities were limited only by her own mental blocks. She immediately fled from the academy to find her own way in the world and unlock her full potential. Once free of all her commitments, Cera began adventuring. She figured it was the easiest way to be able to live her way, and the pay was good to boot. Her first adventure was fairly straightforward, she and a group of 3 other adventurers delved into an abandoned monastery to recover a valuable magical gem. They succeeded and split ways afterward. Cera went on to do more such adventures, with various groups, until she tired of it. She eventually accepted a solo job to investigate some disappearances in a small town. Her inquiries led her underground, to a large lake where she found several of the villagers enslaved by an aboleth. In her efforts to free the townsfolk, she briefly linked her mind with the alien intelligence of the aquatic aberration to try to overcome it. This turned out to be a mistake. Although she defeated the subterranean menace and saved the villagers, a few days later she fell gravely ill, slipping into a coma she would not awake from for several days. When she finally came to, she suffered from some sort of mental block: her psionic powers weren't advancing as she expected. Not only were her powers inhibited, but people began treating her differently, too. Everywhere she went, people began following her, somehow attracted to her. No matter what happened, random people would always find her, swear fealty to her and basically treat her as a queen. She fled from these people at every opportunity, their devotion and fawning over her bringing back memories of her childhood that she had worked so hard to distance herself from. Even if these "believers " died because of their devotion (several followed Cera into dangerous places: dungeons, monster lairs and other such foreboding places that they had no hope of surviving), similarly-minded people would show up within a day to replace them. She eventually worked through her psionic block and her powers began growing again, but as she adventured, more and more people kept flocking to her. In particular was a half-orc barbarian named Terkk. Normally, when Cera told her "believers" to leave her alone, they would leave and be replaced by new people, but Terkk kept coming back. At one point he even saved Cera's life by single-handedly slaying a shambler that had ambushed her and proved immune to her telepathy powers. Since then, Cera hasn't tried to rid herself of the half-orc, even relying on him to occasionally save her skin. Cera had almost come to accept that she would never be alone and never be without these fanatics. However, everything changed when a series of unfortunate events caused the deaths of untold numbers of her followers. First, a couple dozen of her followers were disintegrated by the corrosive breath of a green dragon who she had been tasked to destroy. About a week later, another score of believers threw themselves in front of a charging hydra, giving their lives to stop it from harming Cera. Some time after that, another dozen of her followers died when a water elemental attacked the ship Cera had been traveling on. These deaths, including the several other followers who had died before because of their obsession with her, pushed Cera over the edge. Why did these people have to die? They would have been fine if they weren't inexplicably drawn to Cera. She set out to find out why these people acted like this. Cera eventually learned that touching consciousnesses with the aboleth so long ago had fundamentally altered her mind: she now subconsciously sent out psychic impulses that compelled random people to fanatically pledge themselves to her service. With this discovery came the realization that these people would never stop following her, there would always be more to replace those she dismissed or who had fallen and there was nothing she could do about it. People would continue dying because her mind was partially out of her control. This revelation strained the limits of Cera's sanity: the entire reason she started adventuring was to better learn to control her mind and awaken the power latent inside, but losing a tiny bit of that control had awakened a terrible power that Cera had never imagined she could wield. This new knowledge fractured Cera's mind. This new, slightly mad Cera turned her mind inward, reforming herself in a new image. Whereas before she rarely stripped her opponents of their free will entirely, she now bent the minds of her enemies to her whim. Her herd was still an unwelcome presence, though, and she still sought a way to rid herself of it. When he heard of Vish Na'ogg's plan to remake the cosmos, she figured this might be a chance for her to finally be free of these followers. Perhaps her inner ethics made her believe all her potential believers would be better off with a quick death as the world was unmade, rather than a painful death while serving her, or perhaps she was simply driven far enough to wish oblivion on herself and everyone she might possibly attract, but either way, she wasn't quite completely sane anymore, so there was no way to know her true motivations anymore. Cera sought out Vish Na'ogg, determined to help him in his quest and convinced that he could finally rid her of her herd...
