Age: 19 Height: 5' 1" Weight: 119 lbs Class: Freshman Major: Linguistics Minor: Anthropology Virtue: Prudence Vice: Envy Appearance Yomi is a smaller girl than most. Although much of that perception comes from the way she handles herself, namely that she tends to coil inward when around others, especially those still strange to her. Despite what many would say is a cute face and attractive body, Kiyomi deters advances from the opposite sex by dressing conservatively and keeping herself modest in all regards. She is almost always glancing downward when not alone in hopes that others will just leave her alone so that she might focus more easily on her studies. Background Yomi was born and raised in Osaka, Japan. There her mother and father afforded her a stellar education in one of the city's top academies. Both her parents stressed the importance of an education on Yomi and from an early age Yomi learned that high marks on exams were one of the few ways to garner affection for herself. This drove Yomi into working hard both in and out of school on her studies where she took a particular interest in the history and development of language. After graduating at the top of her class and receiving high marks on her entrance exams, Yomi found herself receiving letters from schools from all over the globe. Her parents reveled in Yomi's accomplishments and tried very hard to steer her towards one of Japan's prestigious universities, but Yomi would hear none of it as her attention seemed focused on one school in particular: Willhelm University. While some thought the school to be little more than a farce, Yomi was entranced with the idea of studying languages within it's halls. One brochure boasted of the university's expansive library and of the old tomes within. It was a very convincing selling point for Kiyomi. Even if she wasn't a strong believer of all the other mystic mumbo-jumbo that the brochure expounded upon she'd at least have the opportunity to study first-hand usage of ancient languages from the very beginnings of human civilization. It was not an easy offer to pass up. What she could learn from studying those books could fuel for her eventual dissertation on the origin of language. Upon arrival, Kiyomi was distressed to learn that many of the most interesting books in the library were on special reserve for students taking Apokaliptics. It was at that point that Yomi's decision to enroll in the class was solidified. Personality Yomi had spent much of her youth neglecting her social life in order to focus on more scholarly pursuits, but now with the overbearing influence of her parents far away on another continent, she is finding it difficult to work happiness into her life. Despite her accomplishments, Yomi is often filled with feelings of self-loathing. Her self-esteem is largely affected by her perception of the other girls around her in school, most of whom are far more outgoing than she. Because of this Yomi often keeps to herself and shuns contact with those who approach her. This further fuels the problem she has in relating to her classmates. Still Kiyomi has a kind soul and if you manage to break past her insecurity and aloof nature she can be as good a friend as you've ever had. For fun, Kiyomi finds herself working on all sorts of puzzles, riddles, and brain-teasers. Whether verbal or mathematical, she has become quite adept at solving them and is not afraid of taking on the most challenging of crosswords in a variety of languages. Inspired largely by the guiding hands of her parents, Yomi developed a keen attachment to classical music, poetry, and art, originally starting with works preserved from feudal Japan, but quickly expanding into the works of the ancient Greeks and Romans and ultimately into the renaissance era of Western Europe. Her taste for culture has only broadened as she matured.
