Flying roll: 1d10 1d8 1d4t Equipment: Rucksack, gun-cleaning kit, a couple bottles of fine wine, Standard data-library, Commlink, a couple changes of clothes, a picture of her and Phillipa together. Long brown greasy hair, dark blue eyes. Background: Anastasia "Stacey" Modthryth was born into a wealthy family on Lindonium. She was fairly close to her parents, but they didn't spend much time together. Her older sister Phillipa was a pilot for the Alliance, and every once in a while Phillipa would take Stacey with her. Phillipa showed Stacey how to run both planetary vehicles and spaceships (although as a small child Stacey wasn't allowed to touch the controls, of course). However, Stacey soon proved herself to be better than her sister at piloting when the two began a friendly competition that involved high speeds and dangerous obstacles. The war never seemed to touch Stacey. Even though Phillipa was promoted to chief engineer of an Alliance ship and sent out to fight the Independents, she always sent glowing letters home that made it seem as if the war was just an adventure. The father of the Modthryth family was a minor but influential political figure and supported the Alliance (although he was a decent man at heart), but he very rarely discussed anything at home. Meanwhile, Stacey went to a prestigious private school, where she learned everything that she was supposed to, but every chance she had, she was off playing with ships. She learned a bit about the engineering behind the ships, but basically she just liked the feeling of being behind the controls. And then Phillipa disappeared. Stacey did everything that she could to find out what happened, but she got stonewalled. People in the Alliance military who had previously been friends of hers suddenly refused to talk to her. What responses she did get were basically just telling her to back off and that she was just a civilian. Stacey has gotten the idea that Phillipa is dead, but how or why, she doesn't know. Her father refused to talk about Phillipa, to the point in which he seemed to almost deny her existence. Feeling emotionally cut off from her family, Stacey turned more and more to piloting. Finally, frustrated with the lack of knowledge about Phillipa, Stacey left home with nothing more than what she could carry. She has been making her living piloting ships, but nothing that really challenges her skills. In her travels, she heard many stories about terrible things that the Alliance has done, and she believed them based upon her own experiences. She found herself looking for piloting jobs that were not sanctioned by the Alliance. Her last job involved piloting a scavenger vessel, which she left when the captain appeared to be becoming too greedy for his own good. Stacey wants to hurt the Alliance for whatever happened to her sister, but she hasn't really had the opportunity yet to spit in the eye of the Alliance, and she's starting to despair of ever being able to.
