Description
Selma has blonde hair and green eyes which are often hidden behind thick dark glasses. She is not very tall, has thick powerful legs, and a large piercing in her left ear, but overall is not a very attractive woman. In the field, she usually wears fatigues whose pockets are stuffed with doodads and a vest full of concealed essential equipment. Other than occasionally carrying a rifle that she scavenges, the scientist does not normally possess any weapons or protective armor which is visible. Dressed in hiking boots, trail clothes and sporting a backpack full of outdoor gear, Selma basically appears to be no more than a geeky field geologist on a simple camping vacation as advertised.
Personality
Selma is considered to be unattractive by many members of the opposite sex, and that suits her just fine. However, she is extremely intelligent, highly educated, very athletic, and a well trained scientist as well as a secretly trained dimensional jump operative of the Americas. Lindsey is essentially a good person, but will not hesitate to kill anyone or anything that gets in her way or that just needs killing. Cover Story - Field Geologist/Scientist on vacation (hiker).

BACKGROUND: Selma is from an Earth-like world where the dark ages never happened. Most would think that avoiding the dark ages and the related losses in knowledge and technology would be a good thing for society, but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, all this did was launch the industrial revolution eight centuries earlier. This meant that her planet was exposed to the carbon and other industrial poisons spewed forth by industry for an additional eight hundred years longer than present day Earth. Unfortunately, Selma’s world never managed to clean up the polluted environment and global warming spiraled out of control to the point that it became imperative to leave the dying planet behind. Even though rudimentary space travel exists, remote outposts on the moon and mars require the support of the home planet to survive and are unsuitable for colonization. Furthermore, her planet is many centuries or more from harnessing warp field technology which would be required to relocate a significant portion of the population to a suitable planet in another solar system. Thus, the only workable option was to try and build a dimensional gate generator which hopefully could be used to transport a significant portion of the population to another destination. The project was not only extremely expensive, but many scientists said it would never work. Nevertheless, the [ooc=United Americas]Consisting of earth's North, Latin and South American Continents united for the most part as one super power[/ooc] managed to secretly build a gigantic prototype of the machine in a remote valley of an icy continent located at the bottom of the world. All that was left to be done was to select a highly trained team to test the experimental device. Selma, a field geologist/technician working with the government, was one of a group of six experts who were selected to make the first dimensional jump. Equipped with a wide variety of equipment, some of it bordering on archaic and some involving new highly experimental technology, the group underwent months and months of exhaustive mission training. Finally, the day to leave arrived. The team was assembled, equipped and placed in a smallish chamber inside the prototype machine. No less than 20 nuclear reactors redlining at 115% efficiency were required just to generate the electricity needed to power the machine for a single jump. As the electricity crackled and the very ground shook, each member of the team began to blur and wink in and out of reality. Just as transport began to take place, one of the reactors went critical and exploded resulting in an unexpected electrical spike then a wild fluctuation in the machine’s current. What happened next is anyone’s guess. All Selma knows is that she was thrown into some type of high energy wormhole with her colleagues. As they rushed through the swirling vortex, some members of the team disintegrated before her eyes, their mouths opened in silent screams as they burst into nothing more than a cloud of individual atoms that was dispersed into nothingness. A lucky few seemed to simply disappear at different times. Selma herself finally [ooc=materializes]If my dice roll indicates she has jumped to several worlds/dimensions, then it can be explained by a residual energy signature inside of her body that involuntarily causes her to jump dimensions, but which is slowly being depleted to the point that it will no longer cause her to dimension travel, thus stranding her on a world with hopefully another PC who has the portable ability to jump.[/ooc] on what she initially believes to be her home planet. However, it did not take her long to realize that this new world was similar, but also different from her home. In this dimension, the planet was not quite as advanced as the planet from whence she came, but it has the advantage of not being nearly as polluted as was her world. She believes that a few other members of the team who were not disintegrated might have survived to land on worlds in other dimensions, but Selma knows that here she is on her own. Since this planet does not yet likely have the technology to build a dimensional transport device and since the cost of building such a device is astronomical and beyond her means, Selma's options are limited to say the least. Her one hope is that other worlds have developed inter-dimensional gate generators and have explorers who have jumped or will jump to this world. Thus, either she can try to locate these other dimensional travelers and hope to eventually piggyback her way home using their technology or she had better be ready to spend the rest of her days as an outsider on this world.

DODGE: Gain +1 Dodge Bonus to AC against a selected opponent. CAUTIOUS: +2 Demolitions and +2 Disable Device. EXOTIC WEAPON PROFICIENCY (Katana): Can make melee attacks with Katana without penalty. MOBILITY: +4 Dodge Bonus to AC against AoO when move out of a threatened square. FAST PLUS: Choose two talents from Fast Hero trees. Must be from different trees. Chose Uncanny Dodge1 and Improved Increased Speed. SPRING ATTACK: When using an attack actions with a melee weapon, you can move both before and after the attack, provided that your total distance moved is not greater than your speed. Moving in this way does not provoke an attack of opportunity from the defender you are attacking (though it can provoke attacks of opportunity from others, as normal). You can't use this feat if you are carrying a heavy load or wearing heavy armor.
