Personality Traits
Again, a typical member of a stoic people, Baruktash tends to be introverted and quiet at most times, not given to outbursts of voice or thought. He is a meditative personality and perpetually aware, perhaps even tense to those who are unfamiliar with the plight of the kalashtar. In truth, like all kalashtar, he is a warrior--even if not a martial one--constantly on guard for signs of the quori war come to Eberron, the Inspired and the Dreaming Dark. Further, he is constantly at battle with himself, seeking perpetually an inner balance with the remarkable, impossible memories of his quori ancestry, lest he fall off the Path of Light and delve into umber madness.
Mannerisms and Appearance
Baruktash is a typical specimen of the otherworldly kalashtar. While generally humanesque, there is an angular beauty and alien gracefulness to him that belies his chimeric ancestry, not the least of which enhances his natural handsomeness. Added to his exoticness is a plethora of highly detailed tattoos covering random patches of exposed skin. He tends to dress simply, in muted, solid colors, but prefers longer garments and cloaks which hang and flow as he moves. He carries a staff with him which might have looked like the randomly forking limb of some tree, were the implement not too smoothly carved to be natural... and not completely formed from a single piece of what appears to be crystal the deep purplish color of a bruise. A large, bifurcated crystal of citrine hue rests clutched loosely by an crystaline claw at the top end of this staff.

Background & Other Notes
Baruktash stood sullenly within the atrium of the modest monastery, as he had been standing for the last half a day. If his knees pained him from this prolonged stance, no wisp of it showed in the hardness of his eyes. Instead, there was a sadness there, an unspeakable regret. They were only crystals, came a voice into head. It was only a window. Baruktash smiled, as he always did when touched by the kesh, the mindlink, of his brother, Mordektash. Though he was thirty years Baruch's elder, and a second cousin once removed in the way humans reckoned such things, he was, in truth, Baruch's twin, in a way the humans would never understand. He and Mordektash shared the same quori rebel ancestor. They were the Dreamshards of Tash, Mordech, he answered after a pregnant pause, not upset by his brother's insouciance to their meaning. He knelt at the ankles and knees, bringing himself to the ground with inexplicable grace and scooped up a fine dust of oranges, yellows, and reds--a sunburst of ground crystal. The chromatic granules fell in a sparkling stream from the sides of his cupped palm. They were to remind us of the wars beyond our reckoning. In them we lived Tash's exodus and his welcoming by the first human host. In them we knew the terror of the Dreaming Dark. We remembered our spiritual war, our duty to turn the wheel of the age. You need no reminders, dear brother. You are a lightbringer. And you a watcher of shadows, Baruktash lamented, finally turning his face from the ruined pane of fractured crystals. He gave his brother a sad smile and saw it mirrored on Mordektash's face, only momentarily, a purposeful slip of his strict resolution he'd only have dared share with this lifelong friend and comrade. Yes, I am, Mordech answered. They both knew they were saying good-bye, and they both knew why. The Inspired aren't going to stop at shattering one church. You are in danger, and you put me in danger. I cannot bring the fight to the Dark, if I must worry to protect you. I fight now, so that you and all lightbringers may change the spirit of Dal Quor. Baruch knew all this, had been ingrained with the moral implications of this war since an age before human children were still learning their letters. Will I see you again? he asked his brother, a childish question, but no less important for that. If il-Yannah wills it, Mordektash faithfully answered. They hugged then, both physically and within the unknowable psychic embrace of their shared kesh, and Baruktash turned and left, not daring to look back at his beloved brother. Tears filled his eyes, fragmenting his vision into fractured disparity. He imagined he was looking through the window of Dreamshards once more, hale and whole, a sight he knew he would never witness again. A boat waited to take him to Khorvaire, through the Lhazaar Principalities. He was leaving Sarlona--perhaps forever--leaving this fight to those who watched the shadows. His was the Path of Light.
