When he was Malcolm Dunforth, he managed a junkyard. He spent his life working out ways to make all that Stuff people didn’t want any more fit in less room, out of sight, and preferably far away. The simple magic that is the trash compactor defined his private heap ‘o crap. He’d always had an eye for making things sit just-so, but it was a meaningless talent until he realized he count actually see the relationship between the trash-cubes and the scrap piles. It was a bizarre tumult of colors and ephemeral lines and auras, but the newly-christened Zephyr could somehow understand how they worked together. A local mage was dispatched to bring him into the Awakened fold. Though by no measure an unintelligent man, he had not previously found cause to apply himself to academic pursuits. He’d only-just snuck out of high school with a marginal GPA for lack of interest in British literature and the Spanish language. Zephyr greedily absorbed the deeper understanding of his magical legacy available through the Mysterium’s libraries. He took particular interest in artifacts, links to the bygone era of magic’s Atlantean zenith. The (somewhat ridiculous) violent and even sociopathic associations his Path is tagged with led him to learn of magic outside of his comfort zone and strong suits. He sought to tutelage of a Matter Adept, in order to learn an Arcanum that he felt was intuitively linked to control and precision of craft, in a very tangible and visceral way. Over the past seven years, Zephyr has served the cabal as a procurer of this and that stemming on his previous experience and newfound talent. His time ruling the scrap heap afforded him a blue-collar knowledge of the city’s workings. His gift for seeing ‘how things work’, how they ‘fit together’, has aided him as he constantly developed certain extralegal skills. Certain rare items cannot always be bought, or at a price the Mysterium was willing to pay – and artifacts are beyond price. If it’s needed *now*, Zephyr stands as the point man for the redistribution of property. Items of great value belong with those possessed of the wisdom and power to best use them. It is only fitting.
