Background: Tanva was born to an easy life, and she'll be the first to admit it. Her father a teacher at the Twilight Academy in Galduria - after all, they were willing to help promote and fund his thoughts on planar strings and the stained glass theory of planar geography. (The boundries between planes, at some points are either solid an opaque, or transparent and fragile. Breaking one, not just passing thru, but causing a dimensional rift, could shatter an entire plane, and the crack could follow and ripple through others. Planar String Theory is about the ties between planes that hold the multi-dimensional universe together.) Really, the Twilight Academy was the ONLY place for Tanva's father - Arimais and his family. The man was thought of as a kook everywhere else, even the College of Mysteries in Absolom where he was trained. So, Arimais, when the offer came, moved his family (wife - Janari, daughters - Tanva, Gaventia, Kellisa, and sons - Lamond, Margene, Baral - Yes, he and his wife are quite busy!) Thanks to a life of adventuring, he could afford the move, though the Twilight Academy assisted. Galduria is a comfortable little town, and a place of WONDER for a child filled with imagination. More than once Tanva, and some of her friends, were seen running from minor explosions, or mishaps with various unstable and trial magical items. Though, often it did prove where the item worked as intended or not. Everyone at the academy knew Tanva - because of her penchant for getting into trouble. And the deal with the Carrion Golems, that was one incident she didn't have ANYTHING to do with! It was no surprise when Tanva started manifesting a talent for the arcane. People suspected that some of the minor scrolls that often disappeared were Tanva and the other children of the Academy trying their ability to cast magic. When Tanva cast a small illusion she had learned from a scroll to soothe and quiet the crying of one of her younger brothers, there was no decision, Tanva was simply, immediately enrolled in the Academy. The Academy, at least, has pity on it's teachers, and Tanva was assigned to apprentice to a resourceful, and very eccentric gnome master at the college. While a consumate illusionist, Garen Halenrome was also a man who loved inventions and creating new things. Garen focused Tarva's curiousity into theory and crafting, giving her an outlet for her extra energies. Life, while exciting, was also pretty dull. That is, until Garen announced that Tarva needed to learn on her own! He promptly, and literally, kicked Tarva out of the college, handed her some coin - instructing her to travel, learn the world, and pay her own way for everything. Then he gave her a stack of books and told her to study them when she had time.
