Description:
Haakon Kin-Kari is a fair-skinned man with dark hair and crystal blue eyes. Haakon wears a full beard, neatly-trimmed, and his hair collar-length and typically pulled back into a club ponytail. He is handsome in a rough-hewn sort of way, with a strong jaw and heavy brow. Haakon stands 6'4" and weighs 200 lbs (191 cm and 91 kg). He is tall and lean, wearing an outfit that combines Jedi robes and Mandalorian armor. He wears a dark long-sleeved undershirt with a high-necked collar, a black tunic over that, and a pair of black trousers tucked into dark brown calf-high leather boots. His armor is composed of durasteel plates over his torso, shoulders, forearms, and shins. The durasteel is painted dark blue with white trim, a nod to his adopted clan. He also wears a Mandalorian pauldron on his left shoulder and a kama around his waist, both black with a dark blue trim. He doesn't generally wear the helmet, but it's an open-faced model with white jaig eyes - shriek-hawk eyes - over the brow. The emblem of Haakon's clan, Jotano, is a stylized white shriek-hawk in mid-dive, which he wears on the pauldron. Haakon wields a blue-bladed lightsaber, the weapon of his first Jedi master. He wears it clipped to his belt, opposite his blaster pistol.
Personality
Haakon doesn't seem to understand the meaning of the words "quit" or "despair". Though a pragmatic realist, he constantly strives to seek out the best possible outcome to a situation. He was once a very orthodox Jedi, but his time among the Mandalorians has opened his eyes to a larger view of the world. While he has much of the Mandalorian aggression, he tempers it with Jedi philosophy. Unfortunately, Haakon still doesn't seem to believe in planning ahead. He's never been terribly fond of 'navel-gazing', as he refers to most meditation, and puts more faith in the physical realm than he does the powers of the Jedi. While intelligent, he's much more a man of action than of contemplation and thinking.

Haakon Kin-Kari was born to an aristocratic family on Corellia, where the Jedi discovered him at a young age and brought him into the Order. He trained as a youngling, and when he was a Padawan the Rutian Twi'lek Jedi Master Nimbla Nim selected him for her pupil. His training went reasonably well, but when he was fourteen a mission on the Outer Rim went disastrously. A group of Mandalorians working for a small-time Sith ambushed the Jedi. Nim managed to defeat the Sith before the Mandalorians cut her down, but Haakon fought on fiercely. The Mandalorian leader, Jongi, impressed with Haakon's prowess, ordered that the Padawan be taken prisoner rather than killed. He claimed Nimbla's lightsaber, proud to have killed a Jedi. Nimbla, however, was not dead. She awoke on the battlefield, barely alive, and despaired of finding her Padawan. She was unable to sense him through the Force, but looked for him anyways despite her injuries and stolen lightsaber. After months of fruitless searching, even going so far as to try going undercover and infiltrating a gang of Mandalorian raiders, she finally gave him up for dead. Nimbla was unable to come to terms with that, though, and so she departed the Jedi Order. Haakon lived among the Mandalorians of the Jotano clan as a slave. Rather than give up, though, he tried to make the best of a bad situation. Though the clan that had abducted him were raiders, they were not always as such and a small but growing number of them wanted to go to more honorable ways. Haakon met one of these Mandos, a female a couple of years older than him by the name of Jennsica - Jongi's daughter. Jennsica befriended Haakon, monopolizing his time with any task she could think of as an excuse to keep him around. Haakon, for his part, didn't complain - Jen wasn't good at coming up with tasks that were hard or cruel, and he enjoyed spending time around her. When she began confiding her doubts about the clan's raiding ways to him, Haakon saw an opportunity to right a wrong, help a friend, and get himself out of a jam. He asked her why she went along with something she knew to be wrong - and was a little surprised at her angry reaction. Haakon barely escaped execution, and was thrown in prison. After three days in a lightless cell with only water he found leaking from the roof, he heard the snap-hiss of a lightsaber outside. Any illusions that it might have been a Jedi coming to rescue him were dispelled at the sound of a female voice cursing in Mandalorian before the lightsaber cut the door down. Jennsica, looking sick with worry, had come to rescue him after she finally managed to steal Nimbla Nim's lightsaber from her father. After a night of fighting, the Jotano clan had either killed or driven off all of Jongi's supporters. Haakon had refused to kill Jongi himself, as the cruel leader had spared his life a year earlier - and Jedi do not kill their prisoners. Instead, they stripped him of his armor and weapons, put him aboard a freighter, and sent him off towards Republic space. Jennsica became head of the clan, and one of her first acts the clan leader was to officially adopt Haakon into the clan as a warrior, one of the Mando'ade. She outfitted him with her father's armor, returned his master's lightsaber to him, and gave him a ship after making him promise to return. The Jedi Order was perhaps a little surprised to see an armored warrior claiming to be one of their own arrive on Ossus in a Mandalorian gunship. The masters there examined Haakon and reviewed his case, where they determined he was fit to resume training as a Jedi. The Jedi master Tirridan, a Firrerreo, agreed to take Haakon on as his pupil. Tirridan was less than amused to see Haakon's new-found Mandalorian culture, as he was old enough to have fought in the Mandalorian Wars. He tried to discourage Haakon from wearing the trappings of a Mandalorian warrior, but Haakon was... resistant. Tirridan had joined the Sith and remained with their remnants for nearly a century after the Jedi Civil War before returning to the Jedi Order. The Council chose Tirridan to lead a team of Jedi to investigate the Renatasia System. The system had withdrawn from the Republic centuries before during a war, and the Jedi wished to get a report on the status of the system's inhabitants. The team was to infiltrate and covertly observe before making the call on initiating contact or departing to get military backup. They covertly approached the system in a number of freighters, but they were betrayed. The Sith attacked, scattering the Jedi team and forcing them to a crash-landing on Renatasia III. Tirridan died covering Haakon and the other Padawan's escape. Haakon, for his part, was not even slightly amused to discover himself once again in hostile territory, his Jedi Master dead and the enemy closing in.
