Description
Normally Kamau wears a light brown tunic and dark brown leggings, along with sandals that wrap around his ankles. An olive-colored cloak, which shows much wear from years of use, covers him and has a hood that he usually leaves down. His bright red hair falls to his waist, with the color matching the fur of his ears and tail. Though his bangs are long, they frame his face more than obscure it, making his slitted emerald-green eyes easy to see. Usually he carries a pack and has a blade strapped to his side. The one item he never goes without is his lute. Either it is in his hands or hanging on him due to being attached to a strap around his neck.
Personality
Traveling for several years has left Kamau with knowledge of how to adapt to many situations. He is friendly to those he meets unless the individual does something that goes against his morals. For instance, he has no respect for people that look to violence as their first course of action. Speaking with others and sharing emotions are what he prefers. One of the ways he uses music is to convey his feelings to other people. Even though Kamau is good with his words and pleasant to talk with, his opinion is that music shows true sincerity in a person, baring his or her soul in such a way that dialogue never fully can. In dangerous situations, such as combat, Kamau will only flee or try to get away if he is alone. When with someone else that he trusts or believes needs help, he will stay with them until the bitter end, even if it means getting hurt or being potentially killed. His music is meant to help his allies and he will only resort to his sword when his other options are not good ones.

Born in the secluded forest village of Issiren, Kamau's only experience with other people were the Catfolk that lived there. Though the Catfolk were not against other races, it was rare to see any pass through those woods, and none did so during Kamau's time there. In this society, physical strength and dexterity were valued, namely for hunting. The ability to guard the village if necessary was another reason those attributes were prized. Kamau was one of the few members there who did not have the strength boasted of. He was quick on his feet, but even children showed more prowess than he had when he was several years older than them. Though his mother and father loved him, they were disappointed in his lack of talent in that area. He was often made fun of by everyone else for it. It was usually more teasing than outright malice, but it still left Kamau with a lot of self-doubt. He usually was sent on foraging trips to help out, as the few hunts he went on turned out badly. The only area he excelled in was with music, mostly through using a lute that his mother had handed down to him. Evidently he had an ancestor who had been gifted with it. Kamau took to the instrument, along with singing, with the ease that others of his tribe took to hunting. His shyness from how the other members looked down on his prowess made him uncomfortable with the idea of playing in public, so he would practice on his own in the forest. When Kamau was sixteen, Issiren was obliterated within a night. Kauma never learned what the attacking group was after or who they were. All he was able to tell amongst the violent storm of his people being slaughtered were that they were humanoids. The only reason he survived was from being outside when it began due to practicing on his lute. He did try to come back, but found that there was nothing he could do to help his people. As far as he knew, he was the sole person to make it out. Guilt overwhelmed him in the days that followed as he wandered around the forest aimlessly. Of all the ones who could have lived, it was the weakest of the tribe, the useless one who could not defend anyone. Kamau's thoughts began to turn to a violent path. He wanted to learn how to use a weapon, push his body to become strong, and take revenge on the group that had killed everyone he knew. Those convictions did not last long. About a week after the attack, Kamau was ambushed by two men that overpowered him easily. They said that no survivors could be left from the attack of Issiren. He would have been killed if not for the interference of another Catfolk, who killed both men in a matter of seconds. The Catfolk introduced himself as Cyrus Sarmad when Kamau asked for his name. Cyrus remained ambiguous on any more details about himself, instead finding ways to turn the conversation back to Kamau. When Cyrus learned of Kamau having been lost since his village's demise, Cyrus said he would help Kamau reach the next safe area of civilization. In the next few days that they traveled together, the two began to learn more of each other in spite of Cyrus mostly trying to remain silent. Cyrus was skilled with blades, which led to Kamau asking Cyrus to teach him how to fight. When Cyrus asked why, Kamau said that he wanted to be strong enough to have vengeance on the ones that killed his tribe. Cyrus' response was that for that reason, he would never help Kamau learn about combat. He clarified by saying that too many people tried to fight for revenge. All that ever came of it was more blood, more pain, and the utter destruction of the soul that sought that vengeance. Then Cyrus asked him to play his lute. Never had someone requested for Kamau to show his talents in music rather than his physical abilities. Though nervous, he performed the music that conveyed all he felt, baring his soul as best as he could to his new friend. When he finished, Cyrus said that was why he did not want Kamau to become someone interested in revenge. It was not part of his nature, and it would darken the pure song he had heard. That discussion was what caused Kamau to want to continue traveling with Cyrus. Originally, Cyrus was simply going to drop him off at the next town. When they got there and Cyrus slipped away without so much as a goodbye, Kamau began to work at tracking him down. Thanks to how well he spoke with others, he was able to get information on the direction Cyrus had gone and caught up with him quickly. Part of this was because Cyrus had gotten into a fight with three assailants. Kamau was not experienced in battle, but he nevertheless held his ground. The music he spun in the thick of battle was uplifting in a way beyond natural, and it helped Cyrus to overcome the three foes. Once that was done, Cyrus told Kamau that the reason he had left was that he was on a dangerous journey, which involved the enemies that had just attacked. Even with that statement, Kamau remained firm in wanting to go with him. As the two traveled together for the next few years, Kamau became more skilled with his music and in the ways of the world. Without the pressure of his tribe members, and the acceptance of Cyrus, Kamau was comfortable with showing himself as the person he truly was. There was only once part of himself that he never wanted to reveal. Much to his surprise and secret shame, he realized he was beyond just friendship with Cyrus. His companion Catfolk outright attracted him, to the point that it was strong enough for Kamau to call it love. But he did not want to risk isolating Cyrus with such emotions. Because of that, Kamau kept silent about those feelings. He was afraid his music, his baring of his soul, would give it away in some regard. Evidently it was not that apparent, but it did worry him. Their adventures together came to an end in an ambush from two far more skilled attackers than before. When combating one of them, Cyrus was left open to the other. Kamau took a stab to the stomach that would have been fatal for Cyrus. Seeing his friend receive such an injury gave Cyrus such a burst of fury that he overpowered and killed the duo. But he quickly realized there was nothing he could do to save Kamau. All Cyrus could do was ask why he had done it. With his final breath, Kamau gave away the secret that he had kept so long: that he loved him. His soul left him, leaving only Cyrus to keep a tight grip on his lifeless body.
