Description
An average height, older gentlemen. He has mostly black hair, but it is laced with several lines of gray. Wears glasses, though he only barely needs them, not caring enough to go through the trouble of the surgery to fix them. Also wears a white doctor's coat that is just a little bulky but doesn't restrict his movement noticeably, and often wears a mask over his mouth, even when not actively operating.
Personality
Shaw is a quiet guy. He's also not really a people person, which one might think is odd for a doctor. But, he took that route anyway because he was good at it and it never hurt to have people in your debt. Usually fairly sarcastic, though he doesn't let minor things get in the way of his work. When he set his mind to something, he finished it, because one doesn't just give up on something halfway. What kind of reputation would you have then?

Additional Information
Shaw was a doctor on the relatively remote rim world of Harvest, since doctors are usually in short supply beyond the border worlds, it seemed like a good place to set up shop. After a little over a decade of uneventful practicing there, he'd just about given up on bothering with getting a Federation citizenship. He never saw much of them, though part of that was purposeful avoidance, he didn't practice exactly as Federation guidelines dictated. Mostly because he rarely asked questions about how the injuries were incurred, and when he did he usually didn't expect an answer. He also believed in Euthanasia for those beyond a cure within their means, for painful and debilitating conditions. However, when he received word of a ship needing a doctor and offering citizenship for the trouble, something stirred within him. Maybe this was his chance, maybe this was his calling. His apprentice had become competent enough to handle most things at the shop by himself, so he left his little shop on Harvest and signed up to join the odd Federation ship and their mission to a strange, mostly unnoticed planet.

Shaw had just graduated medical training school on Verbena, and decided to take the assignment on Harvest. There were few doctors there, and he would be able to join a small clinic and get right to helping patients, as low-manned as the place was. Usually there'd be a long time of internship, ensuring that they knew what they were doing before they could do much of anything. That was one reason he picked the assignment, he didn't want to be treated like an ignorant nobody who could get nothing done without constant oversight. That and the distance from the Federation, which he had decided he didn't care much for. Too much corruption, power and money gone wrong. He just wanted to get away. He didn't care about being a citizen anymore, the cost was just too high. Taking loans was something he was never quite comfortable with. He should be able to be far enough away from them now to be relatively unbothered by whatever new regulation or such they wished to enact, far enough away to just live his life with his chosen profession, and that's all. "Uhhh...." He groaned as he woke from the suspended animation chamber. Soon he would be on Harvest, he knew. Whether or not that was a good thing he would learn soon enough. He had an alright feeling about it. Then again, he had an 'alright' feeling about nearly anything. It was hard to bother Shaw Gray, he took everything in stride and seemed to make the most of a bad situation and the worst of a good situation. It's just the way he was. He moved his weak arm to push open the lid of the chamber, but of course that wasn't necessary, it slid open without him doing anything. Of course, it's automated. He climbed out and started some basic stretches they informed him would be necessary after the hyper sleep. The others were doing the same, though all were lazily doing so, as if they'd done it dozens of times before. And they probably had, most of them were travelers who had, for some reason or another, taken the shuttle from Verbena to Harvest. Wasn't his place to question them, so he didn't. Didn't really care, either. Shaw took his time, watching the others to make sure they were all healthy enough. He was one of the last to leave the room, despite the rumbling in his stomach. Hopefully their food wasn't too bad here, though he didn't really expect to be nearly as 'quality' as the food from the medical school. He was pleasantly surprised, the food still wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. It was decent enough. Then before he knew it, he was on Harvest and the ship was already being boarded for the next group leaving Harvest, back to Verbena, then to who-knows-where. He almost envied them, but he had his own life to live, and he had decided to make it here. There would always be chances to leave later. He walked to the clinic, following the directions he'd been given from the medical school student deployment office. He was surprised to find it a smoldering crater, being roped off by the local authorities.
