Description
At 5' 6" and weighing 155 lb, Rin has an average figure for a girl her age. She wears a short purple tanktop and green shorts. Her brown boots, belt, and gloves match each other in color and shade. The brown, hooded cloak she has is a bit darker and in tatters, making it appear more like a cape due to constant wear. Her dark brown hair is cropped short, leaving her darting brown eyes easy to see. Though she looks to be in her twenties, she is only nineteen years old.
Personality
With almost nobody to call a friend for most of her life, Rin treats anyone she meets with suspicion. She tends to speak roughly and is short of temper. It is not uncommon to see her go flying into a swearing fit when something goes wrong. The only time she holds that back is when around children. Anyone seeing her talking to them would think she was an honorable, upstanding young woman. That is, unless they are complete brats to her, then she might show a bit of her true colors. To earn her trust takes a while, along with several meaningful actions. Once it is won, however, Rin would fight to the death to help them. She would deny the entire way that she cared, but it would be obvious to anyone watching that she was lying. Normally Rin can lie well, with personal matters being an exception. She tends to blush easily when confronted on such matters. Though Rin does not respect the law, she does not enjoy the idea of killing. Her idea of a good time is to run circles around the law enforcers. The worst she would do is stab one in a non-fatal area to get away. The only thing that would change this outlook on killing is if a person were to do something horrible to a friend of hers. All bets would be off if that happened.

The circumstances around Rin's birth were what would shape her into the person she became. Her father was a knight that served in a large city. Though he held a high rank, it did not make him the purest of men. He tended to frequent for prostitutes, and one of these women came to tell him that she was pregnant with what must be his child. There was no outright proof it was his, nor could anyone say he had even been at the house she worked in. The entire basis of the debate was a knight's word versus a prostitute's. She was quickly labeled guilty of trying to taint the knight's name and imprisoned for that crime. When Rin was born, she was taken to an orphanage at once. Her father had no interest in a child, even if it was his, and her mother was filled with guilt at the thought of having to raise a baby on her own in her line of work. When she was released from jail a year later, she decided to leave her daughter at the orphanage, where she might have a better life. The caretaker at the orphanage knew of the history behind Rin's birth. As a result, the caretaker focused more on giving love and affection to the other children. Her bias rubbed off on those children, leaving Rin to be frequently bullied by them. She responded by lashing out at her aggressors verbally and with her fists. That would lead to her getting punished by the caretaker for her 'wild ways'. At age eight, the turning point came for Rin. A boy who was older by a few years cornered her in the kitchen. She was trying to get some food to replace the dinner she had missed; due to a previous misdemeanor that day, the caretaker had denied her the right to eat that night. The boy thought she would be an easy target on her own, especially since she could not call for help. If she did, her thievery of the food would be obvious. She responded with snide remarks that infuriated him. He grabbed her by the neck. Panicking from loss of air, Rin grabbed a knife nearby and stabbed him. She fled, as much terrified by what she had done as she was for the reactions she would receive. The next day, Rin was able to sneak over the walls to the orphanage to see how the boy was doing. She was relieved to see that he lived. The caretaker was speaking to a cleric and saying that Jordan, as Rin learned the boy's name was, needed immediate help. The orphanage was poor and unable to pay the amount needed without cutting severely into the money set aside for food. Rin decided that even if Jordan had started the entire thing, she would be the one to set things right again. She used her skills in stealth to infiltrate a noble's house and steal a valuable vase. Though she knew the act was against the law, Rin felt justified in it from how much the noble owned and how arrogant he acted when she overheard him. She sold the vase to a shady shopkeeper and left the gold received from it on the doorstep of the orphanage. A note was included that she had paid the shopkeeper to write for her. It explained that the money was from a paladin of Pelor who had heard of the boy's injury and wanted to assist him. The caretaker used it to have a cleric fully heal Jordan. The orphanage remained grateful to the mysterious paladin and said good riddance to Rin for having run off. The caretaker alerted the guards of what she had done, but when several days went by without Rin ever being seen, the incident left their minds completely. A little girl was not a concern compared to the many other criminals that could be in the area. Rather than stay in the town where she could be found, Rin secreted herself onto a wagon in a group of merchants. She rode with them to get to her new home, a large city that had far more people and possibilities than where she had previously been. Rin took to living on the streets with ease. Unlike the orphanage, there were many places she could go, lots of locations and people to steal from, and she was alone. Being alone made her feel safer than she ever had been before. As she got older, she began to outright bluff some people rather than restricting herself to picking pockets. This was the time she came up with the last name Yagmur. In some instances, a last name was required, and she found it easier to have one she could refer to when needed. Rin's life continued this way until she was fifteen. On one of the days she was scouting the streets, Rin saw a young girl, clearly homeless from her appearance and manner, getting threatened by a thug. Before she had a chance to interfere, one of the city guards stepped in. Rin was shocked to see that he looked about her age, and was even more stunned that one of the guards was protecting one of the lowest class citizens. From her experiences, most guards would turn a blind eye in such a situation. The young man was being defeated, but before it could go any farther, Rin stabbed the attacker in the arm. It gave the guard enough time to knock the thug's weapon away and make him yield. When the guard looked for Rin to thank her after the incident, she was already long gone. About a week later, Rin had scouted out another noble's house. She would do this often to find people who had traits she hated and would steal from them to support herself, or anyone else she felt like helping, which were usually children. This time, however, she had not accounted for the fact that the noble had a visitor who had brought a dog. The dog's barking gave her away, and she had to flee as guards pursued her. She got cornered in an alley, and a guard came running at her, only to stop abruptly. She saw it was the same one that she had helped earlier. He appeared stunned, but told her to wait. She retorted that she would be caught if she did. His response was to plead for her to trust him. Rin was so startled by the request that she remained in the alley. As she did, she heard the young guard say to his fellow lawmen that nobody was that way and that they should look elsewhere. Hardly able to believe what had happened, Rin waited for a few more minutes until he returned. The guard introduced himself as Franz Casimir and thanked Rin for the help she had given him earlier. When she asked why he had not taken her in, he said that it was to return the favor for her assistance. If he caught her breaking the law again, however, he would not assist her again. Rin left shortly after in spite of his attempts to talk longer. As she did, she felt odd, considering that she actually wanted to see him again at a further time. Several times over the following years, Franz and Rin crossed paths with each other. Sometimes it was during a robbery, but Rin was always quick enough to evade him. Other times, they would meet up with each other on the street. In these neutral meetings, Franz was always open and friendly with her, even if she had just outwitted him days ago. Rin found herself constantly confused by the way he acted. She tried to get him to understand that following the law was not desirable, and that he should find something else to do besides being a guard. It would restrict his ability to help, she said. But he was following in his deceased father's footsteps and wanted to live up to being a law-abiding knight. This continued until about two weeks ago. Rin was taking her standard route through town when she saw Franz speaking with a knight. The knight was chastising him, saying he was far too immature to ever do anything in competent fashion and that he ought to be thrown out of the law enforcement where he stood. Wasting his time helping commoners when the middle and upper class needed help, the knight said, was one of the worst things a guard could do. Judging from the resigned expression Franz had and the subdued way he answered to his captain, Rin drew the conclusion this was not a new lecture. It infuriated her to see the captain ranting about all the qualities Franz had that made her like him so much, to the point that she saw him as even more than just a friend. When the captain started scolding him for also letting several criminals get away, Rin finally had enough. She interrupted him by saying she was the one Franz could not catch, and if he wanted to be so high and mighty, he should give it in a try. Except with less pleasant words than that. The captain, furious at this, said that a criminal like her deserved to die. His sword came out in an instant, which stunned Rin. She had assumed that despite his less than polite nature, he would attempt to capture her, as guards had always done. His attempt to flat-out kill her would have succeeded, if not for Franz bringing out his own blade and slashing at the captain's exposed back. Franz shouted for her to run, and without thinking, she did. Once she was in a safe hiding spot, Rin was able to stop and consider what had just happened. She hated herself for abandoning Franz. All she could think of doing was trying to find out the results of his actions. As she listened in to conversations amongst guards, she began to piece together the aftermath of the incident. The knight, Captain Preston Anders, had called other guards to arrest Franz. He was stripped of his rank and shipped off to Sinner's Island, an island with a large prison. By what the guards implied, it sounded like one of the most secure prisons in the world, and one that did not treat its prisoners well. Consumed by guilt, Rin spent the rest of the day wandering aimlessly. She was the one who mocked the law, so she should have been the one to go there, not Franz. He would never have been put there if not for her. As she thought this, she came to a realization. She was the lawbreaker. What was stopping her from breaking him out of prison? Sure, it was rumored nobody had ever escaped, but had any of them had outside help? It would be challenging, Rin knew, but she was determined to try. She would get Franz out and they could find a place to lay low. That was, if he wanted to. She worried that he might hate her for being the reason he was jailed. However, every time she thought that, she remembered the way he had always smiled at her. If he could forgive her for the actions she had done before, and had thrown away everything to help her... They should stay together, right? Rin set out from the city with her destination being the island. It was a good distance away and she was determined to get there by foot, as she did not want attention from riding a horse. That, and she had never tried before, nor did she trust the animal to hide when she wanted to or even stay with her. So she walked, stopping at towns and staying at inns as briefly as possible. She avoided contact with anyone and kept a low profile. Even with a few stops to try and steal, her funds were running low, and she needed more to continue the journey. Plus, she was not positive exactly where the island was located or how to break into it. Money was necessary, so she decided the best way to earn some would be to follow up with an ad she saw in the next town.
