Personality
Normally calm and mellow Tendal always tries to come off as relaxed and easy-going. This however requires some effort from the neurotic Gungan as bubbling below the surface lies a severely ill mind. With tendencies towards obsessive, schizophrenic and even outright psychotic behaviour the Gungan does a remarkably good job of keeping himself in check, but nobody's perfect.
Description:
Lanky and somewhat frail anyone can see that Tendal isn't particularly strong. He is often found wearing an ornamental kadu-tie around his ears although he insists this is for practical rather than sentimental reasons. As far as clothes go he is most often found wearing a sleeveless jacket and baggy cargo trousers both of which are covered in pockets filled with various knick-knacks and tools of his trade. When going out he wears a well travelled long coat that once belonged to his father.

Tendal did not draw the lucky straw when they were handing out destinies. Especially when it came to his childhood. Tendal was born into a happy, relatively wealth family in one of the great underwater Gungan cities. His father was a well respected doctor and his mother a friendly and active member of the local community, loved by all. Everything was in place for a pretty much perfect life. Then Tendal's mother died shortly after giving birth and everything went wrong. Tendal's father sunk into depression and could no longer stand the sight of his former life which burned on the raw nerves of his loss. Taking all his money, as much medicine and equipment as he could and his son he fled his old life to the place where all the displaced, unwanted and forgotten people of the galaxy go; Nar Shaddaa. Tendal's father set up a small clinic in the refugee sector where he'd made their ramshackle home. Tendal, far too young to understand all the sudden loss collapsed in on himself, becoming introverted and reclusive before he even learned to walk, an attitude not helped by his father's protective instincts in such a hostile environment. His father had little time for Tendal, obsessed with his work when awake and drunk the rest of the time, Tendal was forced to find his own amusement. Tendal could read before he could talk and spent most of his time reading his father's textbooks on medicine, technology and science. The young Gungan became an obsessive tinkerer, a toolkit being one of the only birthday presents the destitute father could afford. With his father drowning in misery and his own vices the only other family Tendal had came to check up on him relatively often, his uncle and older cousins. His cousins weren't very clever so Tendal couldn't 'play' with them, but he loved their stories about life at the centre of the galaxy. Particularly the elder cousin, Murtor, who also shared a fondness for medicine, though had never had access to the same equipment Tendal did as Tendal's uncle was only a paramedic. The other thing that fascinated Tendal about them was their life in the Coruscant gangs, Tendal didn't have fantasy books and they didn't get the Holonet in the refugee camp, so all his tales of combat and adventure came from his cousins. It was during one of their visits that the first real evidence that the damage done to Tendal by his traumatic early years was far more severe than anyone had first thought. At the age of 7 Tendal was still a shut in, but he'd been on Nar Shaddaa long enough to know some of the locals. A particular Rodian kid used to bully Tendal for being a Gungan. This normally wasn't a problem because Tendal was inside but one day he slipped out into the back alley to tinker with a spare portable medical kit he'd stolen from his dad's supply closet. The Rodian showed up with two friends and started to kick the medical kit, the tools and even Tendal himself around. Tendal responded in what he thought was a perfectly reasonable manner. He took his hydrospanner and he beat the bullies to death with it. By the time Murtor arrived on the scene to help Tendal was burning the bodies in a plasteel crate. Nobody would miss them, they were orphans after all Tendal reasoned, unable to understand the atrocity he had just committed. The incident never reached his father's ears and Murtor and his family left the next day. Maybe Tendal could have been helped, but what ifs never save anyone. His father continued to work and his health began to fail. Despite his own medical expertise his father refused treatment, he'd been dead since his wife died and had never really come to love Tendal, associating him too strongly with the time of his spouse's demise. Instead his father began to make arrangements. The cantina he used to drink at, the Jejik-Ma was run by a stern but friendly Rodian named Deeko who had recently adopted a young Togorian, Zalfar, of about Tendal's age. Deeko and Tendal's father saw to it that the two became friends, regularly seeing and hanging out with each other. It was obvious that both brought out the better traits of the other, so when the inevitable occurred and Tendal's father passed on it was only natural that Tendal moved in with Deeko and Zalfar. Life with Deeko was different to life with his father. For one thing Deeko actually paid attention to what Tendal did and actively encouraged Tendal to learn and experiment with his mechanical and medical skills. Before long Tendal was earning small change by doing odd jobs for Deeko around the Jejik-Ma, when he wasn't goofing off with Zalfar that is. They were good times for Tendal, he had his own small room in the loft of the cantina amongst the switchboxes and he filled all the spare space with his father's old books and tools. Over time more children came to live with Deeko as he adopted strays and orphans from the street. Tendal finally had what he'd never had with his father, he had a family.
