Personality Traits
Despite his unnatural origin, Tempest feels a strong connection to the primal world, particularly the unchecked forces of change that scour the planet and make way for new growth. In battle Tempest lives up to his name, effortlessly wielding a massive warhammer, directing blasts of wind and lightning with every strike as the land and sky rise to his call. In conversation he seems restrained; though he's blunt with his words, and they rarely carry any malice, a darker storm is always boiling beneath the surface. He understands the natural order of 'survival of the fittest,' but thinking beings who prey upon or exploit the weak for their own gain or amusement incense him, and he does not hesitate to resort to violence when it seems the surest path to his goals.
Mannerisms and Appearance
Physically, there is nothing obvious that makes Tempest different from other warforged; he is of standard stature and build for a mass-produced soldier, about six and a half feet tall, broad-shouldered and heavyset. Draped in rough grey and brown pelts to protect his natural armor from corrosion and the elements, a broad and battered shield lashed to his arm, he presents a somewhat savage appearance when he enters more populated areas, preferring the solitude of the wild lands and having little understanding of or patience for the expectations of civilized society. His plating is dark and pitted, and it's obvious he wastes no time polishing or maintaining himself; those who surround themselves in finery and glamour he finds gaudy and insufferable. Tempest bears a dragonmark of Storm on his back, though he is aware of neither its presence nor its significance.

Background & Other Notes
Vague memories of a previous life, one far removed from his current existence, flit at the back of Tempest's awareness in moments of silence and solitude - a life of constant struggle and bloodshed. Though he didn't learn until later that the event coincided with his rebirth, Tempest awoke with a literal jolt as lightning struck him on the Day of Mourning high in the mountains of western Cyre - and he woke up angry. He knew nothing of who or what he was or how he had come to be, nor of the kingdoms of Khorvaire and their war that would soon come to an uneasy end. He knew only that a great injustice had been committed against the earth, and he existed to make it right. Roaring in confused and impotent protest, the warforged loosed himself upon the mountainside, pummeling the stone with his fists. A rumbling storm had gathered overhead, and it echoed his rage, thunder sending rocks rattling down to the valley below as lightning joined in his barrage against the barren stonescape. Finally his fury ebbed as the sky began to clear, and Tempest contemplated the destruction he had wrought - and the elemental forces of nature that had answered his call for retribution. Realizing that his memories were distressingly empty, Tempest sought to make sense of his situation, surveying the immediate area. What little clues might have remained were blasted and scattered by his outburst, but at the center - near where he had awoken - he found a dessicated humanoid corpse. Old, implanted knowledge began to filter in: knowledge of the ruling races of the continent, of their need for sustenance and rest that his kind lacked, and of their kingdoms that rose and fell; of his warforged brethren, tireless soldiers built to fight for ambitious nobles and kings. All Tempest knew of himself was his new purpose, and the fact that something had fundamentally changed him from what he had been before; how or why, and who or what had been responsible, eluded him, but such thoughts seemed unimportant in the face of the grand crime whose nature he had yet to discern. Garbing himself in the animal furs worn by the corpse, he descended to the valley below, but was soon caught up in the flow of weary and broken Cyran refugees... who paid little attention to a rogue warforged. Though travelers seemed wary when he approached them, it didn't take Tempest long to piece together what had happened - but he could hardly blame the people of Cyre, who were as much victim as the land itself, common and simple folk stripped of home and family. Though he was eager to venture into the heart of Cyre, the roads were hardly safe; far between large cities, monsters and goblins attacked indiscriminately, and deserters from the war marauded or extorted the survivors for what little supplies they had. Tempest was compelled to protect them; taking up a discarded shield and affixing it to his arm, he trailed close behind the next group of refugees he encountered. They were suspicious of his presence at first, but after a small cadre of brigands were warded off by crashing thunder and whirling gales, the relieved refugees were much more tolerant of his proximity. For months the warforged patrolled the wilds and roads, fending off threats to the struggling survivors of the war even after it came to a close, but never straying too far from the borders of the Mournland. Soon bards could be heard telling tales of the mysterious Living Tempest, crashing down from the skies to sunder those who would threaten the innocent and downtrodden before vanishing like a summer squall, with eyes like sparks and a cloak of roiling stormclouds. As he had no other, Tempest accepted the name, though he had little love for the grandiose stories that sprang up around it. He takes some satisfaction in his work, but he knows that soon his purpose will call him again, and he cannot delay forever.
