Description
An archetypal example of a knight in shining armor, Maxwell stands at over six feet with a firm tone to his body and a composure to his step. He is well-groomed, with his face clean-shaven and his blond hair past his shoulders. His armor is smoothly-shaped, polished and embellished with brass, a longsword hanging by its scabbard upon his side. A heavy cape of natural orange cloth hangs over his shoulders, fastened to his right pauldron by a silver brooch styled like a gryphon's head, a thin chain reaching to the other end of the cape. Tucked under it on his back are a haversack and a magical quiver leaning to one side, his polearms' handles reaching out from behind him.
Personality
Maxwell is a gentle and friendly person, going above and beyond his order's code of honor, respect, self-sacrifice and valor to help those around him, participating in community services or other opportunities to assist and influence people to do great things. Moreover, unlike many other gryphon knights whose idea of valor in the face of danger is aggression to those who've threatened them or Alestia, Maxwell's conviction lays in seeking a peaceful solution, avoiding cutting down a life where diplomacy and understanding can resolve altercations, or at least fighting to a surrender or non-lethal defeat if his adversary's conviction is as unshakable as his own.

During a routine day of assisting the priests with the gryphon keeps, a juvenile gryphon took to Max surprisingly well, climbing into his lap and even flying out to meet him on subsequent visits to the outer areas of the castle. When the matter was brought up to one of the high priests, Venerable Father Feis Holirison, he took it to the two councils as a footnote - it was Valiant Sir Darren Arviler who suggested Maxwell's suitability as a knight, and the decision was made for him to become a squire under Darren's own son, Sir Telus Arviler. Maxwell accepted the offer, but between his usual duties as a squire, the combat training he had to make up on, and the selfless assistance he continued to give the Caretakers, he frequently worked himself to exhaustion. His hard work paid off however, and in three years he was knighted by King Ustald Cerwyn and placed under Valiant Sir Darren's command, the gryphon that took well to him becoming his steed in their trinity. Celine, jealous at her brother's success, had started as a trainee and become a squire during this time - however, during one of Maxwell's away missions, a war broke out with the passing city-state of Estevir due to a diplomatic faux-pas, and she was taken to battle with her mentor - the knight was found to be killed in action after the war settled, but Celine was nowhere to be found. The news reached Maxwell upon his return, and it shook him deeply, turning him notably more introverted and solemn, though still friendly and helpful to those around him. Since then, a rift has formed between Maxwell and his parents, who while doting on him were quick to write Celine off as dead. He has taken more open away missions than any knight in his generation, and used it as an excuse to dodge Valiant Sir Darren's suggestions to take a squire of his own. As of late, however, there have been no shortage of away missions given to him directly as well as to lances he's assigned into, even when negotiations with the insular city-state of Ziobel have been deteriorating back home...
