Personality / Description
Appearance: Angharad has brown hair and brown eyes. Her body is thin, but wiry with many years of wandering evident in her stride and demeanor. Angharad is nominally aware of social conventions of appearance. She prefers traveling garb for most occasions. She takes care to repair or replace older gear before it looks too worn. When meeting with more nobler persons, she chooses an unadorned linen robe of green that extends to her calves. Personality: Angharad is focused on the natural world around her. Reveling in the details, she sometimes has a hard time understanding why other people don't see the same. She has to limit her tendency to take over any situation, particularly in dealing with men. On a given task, she quickly forms solutions and begins to execute. She works best when given a generic role and given freedom to adapt as the situation changes. She is highly interested in methods for adapting civilization to the natural world and scornful of the sort of reckless harvesting of any resource that humans are so fond of. She will debate the role of civilized development for hours feeling out her ideals and trying to help others understand her point of hopes for the future of all life.

Background & Other Notes
Angharad was born in the Resgi Clan, an eastern nomadic tribe. Her people laid claim to much of the grasslands at the foot of the Caldric mountains. Shem knew of Belgista, the annual clan gathering that happened on the Autumn Equinox. The week long celebration is where tribes gathered to settle disputes, trade land and property and form marriages and alliances. Shem was a popular attraction amongst the children. In spite of his urbane ways being foreign to her, Angharad was still able see through many of his tricks. When Shem broached the subject of fosterage with the Elders of the Resgi Clan, they threw him out. Undeterred, he pursued them through the festival, interrupting their dealings and merrymaking and generally being a nuisance. After much cajoling, he managed to get a more serious hearing. However, they still did not believe Angharad's magical potential. What finally convinced them was a trick. He played in on each Clan member in turn and none could see through it. They bought Angharad in to witness and she revealed how it was done easily. Fostered with Shem, the clan insisted on paying her clan share to insure she was not treated badly due to lack of wealth. Unfortunately, it was more than Shem could pack even with the extra horses. In the end, he took letters of credit, committing the Clan to deliver horses to the Crown two years later. Shem took her back to his home per the agreement and began training her. He intended to teach her to magical theory and how to use it, however, Angharad balked at the tedium of sitting around. No progress was made over the winter months. When spring arrived and they began to travel at the behest of the Crown, Shem discovered that Angharad could easily relate to the natural world in front of her, but had no patience for inactive study. Even texts of botanical interest were of little interest. After that, he changed his tutelage so that the magical world Angharad learned fit readily into the natural one she already knew well. After a disastrous visit to the Grand Academy, it was decided that she need not attend. Her mastery of the Art was less, but the path to learning was more her own. He sent her to study with a hedge witch named Helwyn Graybiel in a western province of Ledes. Mistress Graybiel maintained a hermitage in the Forest of Urj. The life was simple, but Angharad reveled in it. She awakened to the sound of the land and all it's inhabitants. In a couple short years, she was truly a child of the forest. Mistress Graybiel began to show her several locations around the forest and introduce her to the local fey. She heard the stories of the conflict between humans and the fey. They also showed her the fetid mines, senseless mass slaughter of beasts and slash burning of forests for agriculture all performed in the name of human progress. The logging of a sacred grove inhabited by pixies brought Angharad out of the woods and back into human lands. Pixies being what they are, they fought back haunting the work sites began and injuries began to occur. Angharad and Mistress Graybiel kept close, helping heal injured workers as needed. Eventually, the superstitious workers began to blame the two human women for the hauntings and named them witches. They were arrested. Mistress Graybiel inflamed the passions of the local officials so much they sent for a High Justicar to hear the trial. High Justicars employ truth spells when witnessing. All the men sent to testify against the women would not speak the truth. Instead, the trial bore witness to their assistance of the injured and the women were released. The work site was abandoned as unprofitable and the workers moved on. Angharad decided that it was time she left Mistress Graybiel. Shortly, she crossed paths with shipwright. He had been tasked with building several costers for regional merchants. He was also having trouble with local fey and suffering thereby. Angharad negotiated with the shipwright on behalf of the fey and convinced the fey to leave him alone. This set her on the path of interceding between the peoples of the forest and the various factions within the kingdom. Many call her a witch and a troublemaker. She's been arrested several times, but no charges stand up to scrutiny. Unlawful attempts have been made upon her life. Often the denizens of the forest intervene, most recently a large grey wolf. This only adds to the rumors that swirl about her. She was starting to come to the attention of those that control significant power within the kingdom when Shem died. She paused in her work to attend his funeral.
