Personality Traits
Nathan is an emotional young man who has a hard time hiding his feelings. If he gets angry, he tends to strike first and think later. This is especially true if friends or loved ones are hurt, as Nathan holds them at a higher priority than himself. Battles do not frighten him, nor does he worry about getting injured himself. He actually prefers being the one to take the blows in place of his comrades. Outside of combat, Nathan has a more friendly personality. His lack in manners is apparent, but it is due more to how he was raised rather than desiring to be insulting.
Mannerisms and Appearance
As a young man that stands of average height and is slightly underweight, Nathan's muscled body appears surprisingly strong for his size. This is noticeable only when he is not wearing his armor, which is rare when he is traveling. The heavy suit of red armor does little to hinder Nathan's skillful wielding of his halberd. His blonde hair stays straight even with his lack of brushing or care for it. The bangs fall just short of his blue eyes, which are open books to whatever Nathan is feeling at the time.

Background & Other Notes
Born in a small village to his seamstress mother, Nathan never had a chance to meet his father. He had left to continue his job as a mercenary to support his wife and child. Whether he was killed, somehow became lost, or decided to abandon them, he never returned. Nathan grew up with mixed feelings to his unknown father. Part of him yearned to find and be accepted by his father, while the other was angry and bitter at him never returning. Though he did not know how he would react to his father if he found him, Nathan set off at the age of fifteen to search for him. His searching turned out to be fruitless for the next year. It did lead to a significant change in his life in spite of that. When staying in a town for the night, monsters attacked the location. Since there were not many town guards, Nathan did his best to help out. He managed to take out a few of the creatures before falling unconscious from blood loss. When he woke up, he was being tended to by one of the town healer's apprentices. This girl, Lian, instantly captured Nathan's heart. As he recovered, the two became closer. By the time another year had passed, Nathan still had not left the town, and the young couple was talking about future plans to live together. It was soon after this that a group of mercenaries came through the town. They were headed to the Underdark, and one of them mentioned that a previous expedition had been there. One of the men he spoke of had the same name as Nathan's father. Nathan could not tell if it was the same man, but this was the only lead he had received. He told Lian that he wished to check this lead, and that whether he found his father or not, he would return to marry her right after the trip. Lian worried for him, but she did not want him to regret passing up one of his only chances to find his father. She vowed to wait for him as he set off with the group. The expedition did not get far before it met with disaster. A group of drow ambushed the group, and in the end, only Nathan survived the slaughter. He was promptly taken back to their city as a slave. Soon the House of Dergan bought him. His life would have been completely miserable if not for one drow in the house. Heath Dergan was a quiet and sensitive drow who had always felt like an outsider amongst his own kind. Never had he thought of opposing them, but speaking to Nathan seemed to change the drow. At first, Nathan only spat insults at him, hating him like every other drow. It came to a peak when in a future conversation, Nathan exclaimed that he had left his fiance to enter the Underdark on a mission that was futile. He said if he had another chance, he would have never left her side. He did not expect Heath to understand the love that drove him to such words. To his shock, while Heath was unsure of what he was talking about, he asked to be told more. From then on, Heath would come to speak to Nathan of the world above the ground, where emotions such as kindness and friendship existed in abundance. As the year came to an end, Heath came to Nathan one night to free him from his chains. He said he wanted Nathan to be able to return to the world above, where he could find the love he missed so much. Nathan knew what a risk Heath was taking with this action and asked him to come with him. Heath agreed to at least accompany him to the exit of the Underdark and then make his decision. On the way there, Nathan gave Heath one of the only two items he had managed to keep. They were a pair of silver earrings he had bought in the first town he had traveled to on his own. The one he kept had a sun charm, while the one he gave Heath was in the shape of a crescent moon. He knew Heath had been fascinated by the moon when he spoke of it, so he gave him the earring as a way of welcoming him to a life above the ground. When they got near the exit, a few drow saw and attacked them. When Nathan was wounded, Heath used the terrain to his advantage, slamming a shaky wall to create a cave in. It blocked Nathan off from the drow, and from Heath. He could only listen helplessly as Heath was subdued and, apparently from what the drow said, dragged away to take his place as a slave. After all that Heath had done for him, Nathan could not bear to leave his friend to such a life of cruelty. But he would be breaking Lian's heart to not return. In the end, he went back to town to explain the situation to her. They were swiftly married. Nathan then left to find a group that he could accompany back into the Underdark. This time, he was determined to keep them all alive. His vow to save Heath was stronger than his conviction to find his father had ever been. So he went forward with far more strength than he had last time.
