Description
Karas is slightly tall for an elf with a medium build to him. Dirty blond hair, cropped fairly short, frames a thin face from which a pair of gold eyes watch sharply. Around his neck a carved flail and moon symbol of Kohyu hangs. A flail hangs within easy reach on his left hip, a rapier on his right.
Personality
Karas is slightly headstrong, perhaps slightly overconfident in his own abilities. He tends towards protectiveness, even if its not needed by those he seeks to shield. He doesn't have any strong prejustice, but isn't one to sit back while others are endangered. He holds a slightly higher protective streak of women, but just barely over any others.

Background: Karas spent his early life traveling with his parents. There rarely was a solid reason for their travels other than to see what was out there. His father always spoke of the wonders that were just over the next river, or hidden in some far away city. His mother was more of a realist about their travels, but never once spoiled the stories told by his father. They followed caravans when they were going the same way as they wanted to, or just went straight through forests and plains when they did not. As time progressed, Karas grew to recognize his own abilities and link to the Protective Mother. He watched the way his father fought off any threat that came upon them (which was surprisingly rare) and pushed himself to be able to provide the same. Slowly the whispers that filled his ears at night became focused, telling him about the person he should be, of what he could do to help. It was his 100th year that he first felt the power of Kohyu flow through him, strengthening his father and himself as they fended off wolves that had come upon their camp, drawn by the scent of cooking meats. Karas' mother encouraged this newfound belief and ability, helping him learn more of Khyu and the other gods along their travels, finding him small books that he could carry with him. Their travels continued as he grew up until his 120th year. The caravan they were traveling with came under attack by a vastly superior group of highwaymen. Karas was quickly knocked unconscious and left for dead with the wreckage of the wagons and bodies of those slain. He woke with a start hours later to find most of the caravan members dead, and many others taken captive. He quickly found the body of his father among the dead, slain trying to fight off the attackers, but his mother was not to be found. Despite his injuries he pushed himself to follow the trail left by the attacking force. It took him three days to catch up with them, but it gave him time to recover himself. As night fell he crept into the camp. The single guard that watched over the captive slaves was quickly dispatched, somewhat miraculously without a sound other than Karas' flail impact. Karas was able to free them from the makeshift cage the rogues had put together and the group of ten people quickly fled into the night. The nearest settlement was Rix, Karas' family's intended temporary destination. With the loss of his father, there seemed much less reason for them to continue on, and his mother chose to stay in Rix. Karas stayed a few years there, but eventually the wanderlust instilled by his father overtook him. Better armed and hopefully wiser, he set out to wander once again, to see what there is to see, to find the wonders he was always told about.
