Personality Traits
Despite what one might be inclined to think, Rathas is actually quite intelligent, which surprises many people. He is particularly perceptive of what people think and feel, and cares a great deal about their emotions. He is rich in compassion, likely something which drove him to pursue the calling of the paladin. Rathas is also in control of his emotions. What Rathas cannot abide, however, is to see the weak and helpless being victimized. All of his restraint vanishes at the sight of such a thing, and he will release his divinely-inspired wrath upon the perpetrator of such a heinous thing. Because of this, Rathas has a strong sense of justice. Rathas, while not unintelligent, can be a little slow on the take when it involves humor. For all his perceptiveness of human emotion, humor has always struck him slightly oddly. However, when it connects, it connects strongly. Rathas may laugh last, but he will always laugh the loudest.
Mannerisms and Appearance
Rathas' defining feature (besides his extreme height) is his long black hair, which reaches from his head to halfway down his torso. He generally keeps it in a single "horsetail" at the back of his head, and it swings in swift curves as he fights in battle. His armor is sharply curved, and it covers his bulk well, glistening also with a shimmering light. At Rathas' side, he bears a sharply defined and large Executioner's Axe axe, which also glistens with red, as if under a magical enchantment. Rathas always says that this is the axe which has never failed him, which will never fail him, as he carries out the Divine Will. His skin is ruddy, and he has a number of visible battlescars here and there, but his entire frame is one of great vigor. And yet, there is something about him that speaks of more than simply pure brute strength.

Background & Other Notes
Rathas grew up as a normal child, or so he thought, and he had the normal life of a child. He even had a childhood sweetheart, and they were both of the belief that they would in the near future fall deeply and truly in love, and get married. When he began to mature, however, everything changed because of one simple fact. Rathas was growing. Quickly. He didn't understand what was happening to him, and neither did most of his village. They believed something was wrong with him, that he was an abomination. He fled the town, and everyone he knew and cared about, into the wilds. He came across a group of Shades, who were also exiles in a way, spurned by all others, and he entered into their company, fighting enemies with the aid of his great axe, Agharran. Yet, as he wandered, he began to feel that there was something missing. This was when the call of the dragon Bahamut came to him. It was an opportunity for him to embrace his strength, and to embrace the power that divinity promised to grant him, in order to advance the cause of goodness and light. Rathas bid his companions farewell, and began on the path to divine championship. Ten years later, he emerged as a warrior of the light, wielding his axe with tremendous prowess, raging against evil where it was found, supporting his allies with divine might. He is committed to rooting out evil where he can find it, and especially to stopping suffering.
