Well even though I'm black and all racial slurs and what not don't really bother me unless someone means it. Since the dreaded N word has already become a term of endearment (apparently the one time that most people care about pronunciation) and most other ones I only hear from people who live below the Mason Dixon I'm not to worried. Honestly I know I use a lot of swearing and slurs in jest, even with the "targeted" race but if someone actually means something I'm ready to defend someone even if their not my friend.

Hey did anyone catch that Primetime last night about race relations in america and how people react differently toward people of different race and based on how they dress? It was pretty cool.

I react differently toward people on how they are dressed regardless of race.

If I see a Youth dressed in Baggy Pants I am more likely to associate him poorly than if he wore Khaki's and a Button Down Shirt.

And also where i run into them. If i run into anyone on the streets, what they're wearing will be what i form my first impressions off of. Otherwise, the location i meet them also makes a difference. I.E. in a dentist's waiting room i'm more likely to be comfortable around a youth in baggier clothes than i am in line at the local shopping cneter.

I've been saying that for a while, apparently "I'm an Aussie" Isn't enough to allow you to be abusive. bloody daft yanks.

I am aware that america has something against the word "****", and that seems to have spread over the internet to infect innocent Australian minds.

Everyone remember that story just last month of the woman who got sued for asking someone to "Shut the bloody **** up!" in a cinema.

I paraphrase a bit, what she actually she did was politely tap the offending noisemaker on the shoulder and put her fingers to her lips to indicate quiet. - Apparently, this is assault.

I am aware that it is only one case, but as I have not heard any stories that the suer is mentally challenged, I'm going have to assume it's a problem in their culture.

Well depending on your heritage in america you could have a very varied background. Most of my folks were "coerced" into coming to america (ie slaves) and my irish ancestry were fleeing an attempt of genocide (ie potato famine).

If you think it's bad in america about being able to swear, go to canada. They can have soft core porn and swearing on television, but go out in the street and swear and it's like you're a criminal. Insane bloody whiney canucks. Bloody english didn't let the bastards get they're come uppance, canada should be part of greater New YorK!

I think swearing is fine as long as its not within child hearing, even though I swear kids know more swear then I can swear.

I think swear really have their time in bed. It sure feels good to launch a F*** when you came. But using it lightly is not something good. When I play online games, kids keep on saying F*** all the time. I mean common, is it useful to yell F*** when you get killed when you play halo 2? Or diablo2? Or any other online game. I see no use to it.

Erm... Sorry, what exactly does American TV have to do with that particular word? It's not used on yankee TV, but it's not used in a helluva lot of Aussie stuff, either.

And I've been less affected by US TV than a lot of kids - for starters, I know to dial 000, not 911. I use the word garbage, not trash, chips, not fries, arse, not ass, and... probably a few others that I can't think of right now.

That word is just one of maybe... 2 or 3 that I don't like hearing. Family friends of ours are Scots from around Blacktown in the Western suburbs of Sydney, and they drink heavily - believe me, I can cope with a lot of nasties being dropped - just not that one.

While I can't speak for all schools, Model Farms in Winston Hills was atrocious. I heard more cursing in my two years there than I have in the rest of my life, drunken Scots included.

Perhaps he referred to the overly PC nature of such shows (which is what I referred to begin) - such as non-PC phrases as jokes in themselves, and the token black guy (which seems to me to be morphing into the token black guy plus token asian guy).

Gads - you'd be surprised how often this happens... I think the stats fro QLD year before last was something like 50,000+. In Sydney, during a fire, it took one guy about half an hour to figure out why he couldn't get through...
