Sindarin Songs

Sindarin Songs

I've "translated", and I use the term loosely, the Dwarven Religious Song into Sindarin. It's probably unnacurate and littered with grammatical mistakes plus it's very loosely translated as I had to substitute a few words. Nonetheless, here it is:

Aran nui orod
Aran o erain
O sarniâ, linnam.

Lasto linnod vín
Anno hûn vín
Ned in eneth o Walin Belegadar linnam.

Anno dam vín gorv
Tiri hathol vín
O nann ast linnam.

An nef lû dagratha
Aglareb erin ú-telin
Ned in eneth o Walin Belegadar linnam.

Now, the Elven Song of Longing. I had to improvise a few missing possessive cases, namely "hain". Anyway:

Ferin ‘laur ned Ardanel
Laer anno beren nin
Lass ned iavas aglareb an pedich
A idhor nin tiro an aear.

Linna na bein lammen
Glenna o salch a galadh
Bartha o Edhil, iaur lû
Dortha? Revia an Faerie.

Calan o elenath aear
Iaur gwaith ú-delia
Den linned o iaur Faerie
Lynd, ennas hûn nin.

Na anor a salch a taur parth
Ennas hûn nin beren
Idhor dôr firtha a peltha
A Edhil linna linnod hain.

Na calan o elenath aear
Im ú-delia beren nin
Den pedo an nin o hall Faerie
Lynd, ennas hûn nin.

I love it! These will certainly grace an update.

Haven't a clue what they say, but the words just look lovely. Very Tolkien-esque.

Peace,
-Darakonis

Awesome; and with syntactical structure, no less?

Where are you getting the information for these translations?

Could you provide an English translation for them?

Cheers for sure!

Translations for the songs are on the Farland site. And the information was most gleaned from Ardalambion. Thanks for the compliment but I believe there may be a few errors in pronouns though.

If you end up having to create your own word in Tolkien's elvish... look to Finnish for sounds and word structure.

Finnish ??? that has absolutely nothing to do with finnish (Im Finnish) and that is gibberish structure wise.. and it has way too many vocals to be near finnish any way)

(there is finnish lyrics for one awesome metal ballad ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpoUWWTVQGo and here is the same song with sounds)

Surupuku, by Timo Rautiainen ja trio Niskalaukaus (niskalaukaus = excecution shot to the neck)
en tahdo murhetta kantaa
vaan en tiedä kuinka voisin
kaiken kurjuuden keskellä
nähdä jotenkin toisin

kun kansojemme suurmiehet
noissa suurissa toimissaan
kompuroivat pimeässä
kaaos kannoillaan

positiiviset pellet
hellii hyvää ajatustaan
ja elävät niin kuin paholaiset
siksi pukeudun mustaan

kun yhteinen maailma on
pelkkää mielikuvitusta
minä pukeudun surupukuun
ja surupuku on musta

jos oikeutta
enemmän vain nähdä saan
voin verhoutua
vaikka lumenvalkeaan

mutta jos maailma jatkaa
pimeän matkan taivallustaan
ylläni on surupuku
ja surupuku on musta

eikä se juuri naurata
ei se nosta mielialaa
kun itkusta kaikki alkaa
itkuun kaikki aina palaa

kun kokonaiset kansat
käyvät pelaamaan pedon lukuun
siksi pukeudun mustaan
musta on surupuku

jos oikeutta
enemmän vain nähdä saan
voin verhoutua
vaikka lumenvalkeaan

mutta jos maailma jatkaa
pimeän matkan taivallustaan
ylläni on surupuku
ja surupuku on musta
