All posts should be third person and past tense

A tall, almost rakish looking man pushed through the back curtain of the tiny fish stand. His hands were covered in guts that he wiped on the sides of rubbery trousers. When he saw someone waiting at the counter, he frowned and did a quick glance over his shoulder. What he was looking for, it was impossible to know.

Do not use any extra formatting on dialogue, aside from the usual quotations and proper punctuation.

The man approached the counter.
"What do you need?" he asked brusquely.

Italicize any internal thoughts with proper punctuation.

When there was no answer, the man puffed out his chest, sucked in an enormous breath, and let it out theatrically. What is this jellyfish's problem? he thought, staring the person across from him up and down.

If you have a relevant image pertaining to your post, please place it in a "Spoiler" tag so that a reader can see it at their leisure. Try to keep this to a minimum and focus more on in-text descriptions, however.

Heh, Jellyfish is my new favorite pronoun.

"This guy! What is jellyfish problem? Where does jellyfish get off?"

I don't think you quite meant pronoun, but I'm kind of intrigued...

See, it would work in the second case, replacing He or She. It wouldn't replace his or her. So, yes. Pronoun.

If you hear a case of an English teacher's head spontaneously combusting in the news, that would be me.
