D&D 5e character sheet

Uhh... try not to crash the server

Use the alpha sheets system. I'm hoping to skip beta and go directly into production and migrate old sheets over to it and be ready to go with all that, so let me know if you get any weird saving issues on the alpha system. They seem to happen (and aren't reproducible by me) on the existing system, and it's the big thing I'm hoping to fix.

An underscore-js flavor of HAML, and of course CSS, based on the (legacy) Bootstrap 2.3 framework. I've meant to see what it would take to migrate to 3 but... against all the other things that need doing, it's low priority.

Please don't work on a 5e sheet, though. I've already started (and it's pretty simple anyway).

Whoa! I had never looked at HAML before and all of a sudden I feel as though that I have been doing Ruby on Rails websites all wrong....

I must find the time to learn this.

I like to think of it as writing html with css, with the block scoping of python. It's a lot more terse, but I've been thinking that, considering heavy use of data tables, sheets are almost just data structures with some styling/decoration, a document that *looks* like a data structure makes sense.

Considering you didn't know about HAML, I also recommend checking out SASS and its sorta superset, and my preferred flavor, SCSS. I think rails has been using those in the asset pipeline, though.

Yeah, I have come across SCSS before, and I am trying to find the time to learn Python so I Can get a promotion at work. Haml is now on the list.

I've got my first pass at laying out the sheet in the Sheets Alpha:

Sheets Alpha Discussion: http://www.myth-weavers.com/showthread.php?t=262638

Sheet Preview: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=92

It's still ugly and mostly unstyled, but I think I've got things basically where I want them. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to play yet, my order of the starter set doesn't get here until the 15th.

Please let me know what you think!

honestly I dont like the fact that death saves is in the center, umm what you trying to say man

also adventurers pack, waste - hemp rope, 10days of rations ?

in D&D players hope for alot of combat and magical items, lets try to emphasize on that, not just have a small section for it, what if i have a Dancing vorpal +4 vampric touch, dragon slaying double sword of throwing and returning, gonna need to scroll to catch all of that.

not sure though, havent looked at anything 5e related, but the main things that are important to me is skill, abilities and gear, then flare (what separates me from a computer game)

hope this is in the right section for opinions

Magic items are supposed to be somewhat rare in 5e. You most likely won't have a wagon full of them like you did in previous editions. I don't think you'll have a long list of modifiers. They'll most likely be generic items or named items.
