Rest in Peace, Big Man

Rest in Peace, Big Man

Saturday marked the passing of a great musician, Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band. He died at 69 from complications of a stroke.

His joining of the band was legendary and painted in Springsteen's lyrics many times. His personality was one of love and happiness for all his fans, young and old. And his saxophone playing ranged from soulful and desparate (Jungleland, Drive All Night) to powerful and driving (Born To Run) to joyful and playful (Sherry Darling, for example). PProbably one of the best side-men a band leader like Bruce could ever have.

And he helped to break down barriers, being black and from South Jersey.

I'll miss him.

And of you E-Streeters out there have any interesting tales to tell of the Big Man?

No interesting tales, never saw the band play live, but I share the sadness. A life worth celebrating and remembering.

Goodbye, Clarence Clemmons!
