2017 Movie Watch

2017 Movie Watch

I'm a bit of a movie buff. My wife and I usually hit a movie at least once a month. And I have an 11 year old nephew to hit things like the Power Ranger movie (don't judge me). This year is shaping up to be a great year for movies. Top of my list is the Dark Tower. The ones in red are must sees for me. I haven't checked all the trailers or know what all of the movies are. Which ones are you looking forward to?

Relevant to eeeeeverything here.

Lol. Yeah, more than a few fit that. I'm still looking forward to some of them.

@Raveled the ones in red are the ones I would like to see.

The case for Christ, by Lee Stroble??? (I'll proceed to censor my opinions as I know what church and college he's a guest teacher at...)

Pitch Perfect sequel??? (Not again.)

Jumanji remake???(You won't out do Robin.)

Bladerunner, might be good? (Who is attached to this?)

Bad Dads, as in a take on Bad Moms? (If Ashton is in it, to either be serious or spoof Mila I'll watch it.)

Baywatch... Seriously... (I'll again censor myself.)

So, which movie up there is going for cinematography that change the world??? Dunkirk has some potential for good storytelling. The cuts of the trailer looked strong.

The Comic Book movies have, 5+ titles? Between DC and Mavel. With Avengers 3 to be up for an early(Marchish?) 2018 release? (Captain Underpants would, count. Then Logan, Guardians, Spider-Man, Thor. Wonder Woman, JLA...)
Revised to 7 movies.

Seems like a bit of a slow year to me, but then again, for some reason I seem to have lost the ability to watch serious drama. Just can't do it anymore. So no Hidden Figures etc for me. Anyhow, stuff I probably will watch:
xXx, Sleepless, Lego Batman, Logan, Beauty and the Beast, Ghost in the Shell, Fate of the Furious, Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars 3, Despicable Me, Valerian, Dark Tower, Blade Runner, Kingsman, 6 Billion Dollar Man.
Stuff I will not miss and will probably hit the first run theater for: Guardians of the Galaxy, Wonder woman, Spider-Man, Thor, Star Wars. Justice League could go on either list, it really depends on how it looks as we start to see more trailers etc.
I see quite a few things I know nothing about or just don't really care about, but sound like the sort of stuff I pick up a year or three down the road on DVD or streaming, way too many to list and a lot of them depend on what they really are. A couple that are almost certainly in that category: Underworld, Dunkirk, Jumanji

The Dark Tower is the only film on that list I know I will go to theaters to watch.

The Blade Runner sequel is a title I am morbidly curious about. For me, it is a coin flip.

It will be one of those "wait and see" type scenarios.

Incidentally, I watched a bunch of non-mainstream teasers and trailers last night and typically I find a few diamonds in the rough. I think I found one; The Girl with All the Gifts (which I later found out was based on a novel). It's a zombie flick, but it reminded me a little bit of Justin Cronin's The Passage. It might be a Netflix movie, but perhaps it's appropriate to add some of them to this list (but also avoid adding the made-for-tv stuff to keep from getting gloat).

No one here is going to admit to being a little interested in The Mummy? So I guess Tom Cruise just lost his ability to bring you above-average action flicks over night? Come on! You're going to get Mission Impossible: The Egyptian Expedition, you're going to eat your popcorn, enjoy yourself for 2 hours, and then promptly look for the next thing to entertain you.

I'll probably be a nerd and go see Transformers in theatres. Not because it's likely to be any good, but because it's always fun to see cybertronians fight at life size.

I think the entire Transformers series would be decent if Michael Bay were limited to just the action sequences instead of directing the entire movie and had someone who was far more into the lore doing the rest.

Mummy probably should have made my budget theater list. Though it strikes me as one I might well miss and pick up later as a rental.

I've heard quite a bit about Girl With all the Gifts, but I'm really not much of a zombie fan, so at best it's a rental for me.

I'd agree with Snakeman if Bay could direct a competent, comprehensible action sequence.
