It is only one who is thoroughly acquainted with the evils of war that can, in turn, thoroughly understand the profitable way of carrying it on.
- Sun Tzu
Treyson is a city bordered by hills leading into a massive rain forest on one side. Canyons and dry flats surround the rest for 400 kilometers in either direction and remain the hiding and roaming grounds of biker bandits.
One of the main influences within the city itself are the gangs. However, stellar guilds, backed by a few interstellar ones within the KMC’s territory, are only now making a claim to boone and have used Treyson as a staging ground.
This is because ever since the brood war, sudden realization for a growth in defense created an incredible increase in demand for raw materials from ‘fringe’ regions and worlds - boone among them. As such, guild scvs can be founded on Treyson’s outskirts, constructing factories and paving highways and parking lots towards and adjacent to the city’s only star port.
One of the members of the Jetz (a gang of Treyson) has been arrested on a sexual assault conviction (ignoring the rest of what his gang is up to). The rest of the gang thinks the cops have gone too far this time, obedient to silly laws that they believe are being input by the outside guilds. Many believe that the victim of the assault was in a relationship with the perpetrator, as it’s widely rumored that she has been involved in many relationships - and used her own influence to get him arrested.
Another belief is that many members have a natural hate for cops, believing that they have no other life but to arrest people when they’re bored and have chips on their shoulders.
The Jetz, the player’s gang, goes back pretty far - almost 100 years to the ‘beginning of Boone’. They claim that the colony has pretty much run itself since then, and crimes are ‘solved’ personally. The laws are imposed by a minor guild, and the other guilds don’t care too much - so the only ones the laws are effecting are the citizens (the ones that aren’t already abused by gangs). The gangs, being gangs, vow revenge. Alternatively, the player can just break out the perpetrator, or seek a story from the girl victim. Or, do something else (such as earn rep in the gang).
The gang is the top of the food chain, but almost every non-guild citizen is involved in gangs one way or another. The bandits on the outskirts, on the other hand, attempt to profit by selling to pirates that touch down in the flats every now and then.
Earning rep in the gang can mean conducting parlay with other gangs, smuggling illegal substances and firearms (firearms are especially mostly entirely illegal within Treyson, by guild law), starting a war and running it on your own funds, etc.
Throughout Boone, asphalt platforms constructed from material on the planet, have been erected to contain cave ins. Various other abandoned towns exist in the dry regions - most people don’t venture outside of Treyson for fear of wild animals and rumors of contagious diseases; these rumors have spread among the poachers and bandits (and bandit poachers) in the area.
There are several abandoned condos and ruined streets. Some of it borders Treyson. The area to the wastelands is barred with cement and metal, all in an effort to stop looters. That said, even an SCV can scale the wall. And many more areas are like this, even some that include bridges and catwalks. It's obvious that the city has stopped caring about these places. The guilds have roads running elsewhere to their brand new factories and drilling rigs.
A beach exists 400 kilometers away, and is completely barren of human activity, aside from the odd observation drone placed there by a guild merchant vessel.
Legend has it that the first to settle on Boone were former guild employees that mutinied. Some versions of the tale hold that the 'real estate agent' was shot by some people already living there. Although maybe the latter exists to stir up anti-guild sentiments.
The hotels are these vast fortresses that appear relatively unthreatening at the front and foyer. The enclosures contain massive swimming pools, and each entrance is well guarded. In actuality, the term 'hotel' is assumed, because of their well kept fanciness. Hotell has evolved to sorta mean that, since a castle-sized residence that may or may not belong to just a single individual is practically unheard of in a place like Treyson.
A sports colosseum (Treyson Trader’s Place) for the sport of darts, javelins and staff fighting (a combined event that has been broadcasted and become incredibly popular for the people of Boone), is held monthly. Various teams are sponsored and bets are often placed on individual player match ups.
Other sports include bump hockey, which involves shooting balls into vacuum tubes, and where beating up players is encouraged. A ball can be picked up, but it, of course, leaves said player open to a full ass-whooping. Up to three balls can remain in play.
Drag racing would be just as, if not more popular, if it wasn’t illegal. Using the highways is illegal and the compacted streets create too much ‘stir and ruckus’. The mining tunnels are about the only decent place, whereas the flats leaves a pilot exposed to the ire of bandits.
The non-guild loyalists exceed the guilds by a decent portion (70% or so), and while not living in as much comfort, own just as powerful an amount of standing assets and nonetheless have a bloody resentment for the guilds or for ‘independent rich’ (rich people that basically don’t run a gang or have a posse; also can be thought of as ‘soft’ or ‘clean’ rich). The non-guilds, although some potentially working for guilds (but not enough hours or high wage to be considered loyal or watched closely), get their power from smuggling through the various gangs and their leaders are known as the ‘dirty rich’. The dirty rich have flexible assets, while the actual ‘rich’ have the back up support of guild credit. The only source of credits for the dirty rich (with extreme criminal records) are credits from various pirates (credits is interstellar currency, officially input by a post guild wars agreement between KMC and the Confederacy - but unofficially printed before then).
A fountain and park exist. The park is called Riley park. Riley is closest to where the player lives.
There’s a traveling circus that stages itself in various park regions. Would make a good place to start an adventure (maybe one of the characters is a performer).
The strip club is another good start up place. There’s also some regular pubs, although they obviously don't have the same crowd, and are often quiet and even considered to be 'poorly maintained' and 'ugly'. Most strip clubs don’t always feature performances - going for entire weeks without. The flamingo remains the most active spot.
A few private drilling schools exist. They seek to teach old martial arts, brought down from some militaries. There's also private schools, and neighborhood tutoring.
There’s some prison blocks a ways away from most of the town’s attractions.
Of course, there’s a single star port - a massive place that accepts guild shuttles, which import goods to Treyson and the rest of boone.
A theater called ‘happy buck’ exists. It advertises itself as ‘the most happy for your buck’, famous for having probably the oldest radio jingle around, that still gets used. Various films are shown here, as well as the occasional musical venue.
Technological oppression is a unfortunate reality throughout most of Kel Morian space. Many of the denizens of Treyson, like other fringe worlds, rebel against technology’s seduction via boycott, which still forces many, mostly young, hoodlums to scrape by below the 'margin’. There’s been booms in basic forms of entertainment and communication such as radios and analogue television sets.
Even so, higher technology rears its ugly head in the form of ID cards, seducing various businesses with the incredibly cost effective 'privacy raping' background-check style, security assurance that they can promise. Security is in constant demand, as Treyson has only recently diverged in the past few years from something that was relatively lawless.
In the outskirts, there is much construction going on with what looks like the beginnings of various factories. If players behold this, it will be evidence enough that the guilds are making a move on the world of Boone and that the many freedoms they’ve enjoyed could very well disappear tomorrow. A Jetz NPC will try to convince the PC(s) that this is the case.

Within Treyson lies a surprisingly fancy strip club (‘The Flamingo’) for high class patrons that aren’t there to spread ‘diseases’. It screens patrons for citizenship records from their ID, and even comes complete with a
ressocced bouncer up front. Treyson also is the location of several bars in various states of seediness, 3 hotels (restricted to rich people), several outdoor theaters (film and live music), Riley Park (one of the most exquisitely peaceful areas; threatened by expansionism from residents, stores, Treyson’s own sudden need for more roads and many many gas stations), sports colosseum, lower kept residents, as well as some open entrances to mining tunnels (where walking is unofficially un-recommended, as it remains a popular drag zone for hover bikes, and particularly vultures, which can be wired to act at such velocities as to exceed any known speed limit, or traffic system in the known universe). Hover bike deaths are actually one of the most common ways to die, according to Treyson’s statistics office. Only rarely do bikes venture (or even make it) to the drill zones deep underground.
Mining was the foundation of Treyson, so the mining tunnels remain a splendid, although deadly land mark. There’s rumors that drilling for the guilds is still ocurring many kilometers under the surface, and being shipped through some mysterious tunnel elsewhere. However, these other tunnel exists have yet to be located (or the finders haven’t returned).
The ID that every citizen has (and if they don’t have it, then they can’t enjoy the services of at least 70% of any business within Treyson), is federally in-stated by Kelanis Shipping Guild itself, and brought to the masses by Fetra Well Being. Few hackers have been fully able to crack into the ID, as it contains tamper-proof encoded info on literally everything about the holder. Privacy laws mean that businesses that scan for IDs, can, in exchange for additional taxes, have their computers access additional information of their choice, provided by the ID. The computer is given the right signal (via whatever means state can keep in touch with its citizens; ie. relay drone or far-reaching satellite) to crack the code. Even if the computer isn’t wireless, the card can still electromagnetically transmit the information between the scanning laser and the computer’s card reader.
The card would be phenomenally expensive, if it weren’t for the manufacturing and wholesale brilliance of Fetra.
Businesses can refuse to scan for IDs and instead go by their own systems of security, however they are taking more of a risk. Even in the farthest reaching worlds of the Kel Morian Combine, a form of commercialized law and order can be established this way - and by those willing businesses, no less!
