The Necronomicon Ex Mortes
OK, this is something I had the idea for after hearing a friend describing to me the original idea for a book called the Necronomicon Des Mortes. It's in a movie called Army of Darkness, and after hearing what the book could supposedly do and what all it was made of and all, I got this idea.
Necronomicon ex Mortes
Major Artifact
The pages of this heavy tome are made of human skin, and the ink used to write it is human blood. Within the pages of this book are thousands of secrets and tidbits regarding the undead. To gain the benefits of the Necronomicon, the individual who wants to must be either a Cleric capable of casting Necromancy spells, or a Necromancy specialist Wizard. If they meet those prerequisites, the person must spend 8 hours a day reading it, every day, for 1 month. At the end of each week, he must succeed on a Will Save (DC 30). Failure on any one of these saves results in the character being driven insane, as per a permanent Insanity spell which cannot be dispelled. Upon successful completion of the tome, the reader gains the following benefits. First, whenever casting a Necromancy spell, the characters effective caster level is +2. Second, if the character is capable of rebuking undead creatures, their effective Cleric level is +2 for purposes of Rebuking undead. Finally, the maximum HD they can create and/or control via spells such as Animate Dead is doubled.
A person can only receive the benefits of reading the Necronomicon Des Mortes once in their life.
