Abandon Hope

Abandon Hope - Forum
Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e
Ad Closes: Aug 17 '10
Estimated Members Requested: 4

Seeking 4-6 characters for a combat-heavy romp into Hell (and possibly other lower planes).

FluffAbandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter Here

To dare the gates of Hell is the height of daring and the height of folly. Succeed, and your names will be glorified throughout the ages. Fail, and your names will be cursed as your world dies.

Seeking: four to six stalwart adventurers true for a daring raid into the fiery depths of Hell

Legends speak of a mighty amulet, a gift from the gods, and of the hubris of an ancient king who thought to make war upon Hell itself. The king was slain and the amulet shattered into sixteen pieces. Only the piece attached to the chain around the king’s neck was returned safely to our lands. Now a great Doom is upon the land, and only the restoration of the amulet can save us all.

The amulet’s shard has the power to guide a small band of warriors to the location of the first piece -- but be warned! Once you have crossed that threshold, there can be no return to safety until the last piece is found and the amulet restored.

The party is being sent by a human-centric standard fantasy lawful good kingdom, but the entire world is in danger. Champions may have been sent from farther away to join in the quest.

Races: SRD preferred.
Level: 6
Starting Wealth: 20,000 gp (no item over 10,000 gp)
Stats: 40 Point Buy (+1 point at 4th level)
HPs: Max 1st-3rd, half thereafter. (

Example)

If these seem generous, remember you're heading into Hell, with no idea when you'll next see a store, or even a safe place to rest. Expect to be dealing with more than the usual number of encounters between chances to sleep, and heal up and recover spells. If you're an archer, bring lots of ammunition and the means to make more.

Are there any alignment restrictions?
I mean, just because the kingdom is LG doesn't mean that they would pass up someone of another alignment willing to take the plunge into Hell in the first place.

Also, are you allowing LA buyoff for LA +1 races?
Tome of Battle?
Weapons of Legacy?

No alignment restrictions -- but it should be someone with a believable motivation. They might grumble, but a CG elf or a TN druid is certainly going to be welcome along. A CE character might be difficult to trust, though.

LA buyoff for LA +1 is fine. However... we'll be leveling all at once, at the end of each stage of the quest (with each piece of the amulet acquired) -- so in practice, even with the buyoff, you'd be a level behind until the end of the third stage, when you'd jump from 7th level to 9th level and catch up. Hope that was clear.

Tome of Battle: Yes.

Weapons of Legacy: No. (We may be doing something similar to this, in a less formal way, though.)

How do you feel about the complete series? More specifically complete mage and complete Arcane?

Both are fine. All the Completes, Spell Compendium, and Magic Item Compendium are all fine.
