The World of L'Tiene (GURPS 4th Ed. Fantasy)

GURPS
Estimated Members Requested: 1

The Capital City of Tormauz in the Kingdom of Tormauz

The world of L'Tiene is a unique fantasy game rich in setting and history. The setting has been in development with several GM's since 1994 (estimated) and is run by an experienced GM with role-playing experience going back to 1992 and has been involved in PBP since 2007. This game has been in regular session since 2008 (one of the oldest GURPS games on this site) and our group is committed to telling an excellent story.

This game is focused on role playing as opposed to "roll" playing. That means character development and plot take precedence over equipment lists and statistics. This does not indicate a lack of combat in the game, but this is specifically not a dungeon hack and is instead an epic campaign setting that reads more like an epic tale. The focus is on telling a story, not winning the RPG and defeating the boss at the bottom of the dungeon for it's treasure. As such you should consider yourself a writer on a communal project first and a gamer second. The gaming aspect is there, but it is by far secondary.

The World of L'Tiene operates on GURPS 4th edition. Fantasy and Magic Supplements are recommended but not required.

We will only accept 1 player at this time, we will accept any readers. If you are interested in playing, please take your time to review this information carefully.

The setting is supported by an entire wiki
I don't recommend you attempt to read through all of it at this juncture, it's very large and you might spoil several plot points for yourself. Instead bookmark this page and tell me about your concept and I'll direct you to some pages.

Speeking as a player who has been there from the very begining of this game, I can say its one of the best games I've ever been in... I HATE my character but I love the setting and the story so much I've sucked it up and continued on.

Never play a monk with pacifism lol

Bump

This looks great, and the testimony from the existing player is good to see!

I'll be working most of the day, but I will try to put a character concept together this evening.

looking forward to seeing what you bring

What sort of times does this game usually meet? Sounds like It would be interesting to join a major game like this, but want to make sure I can devote enough time with college schedule and all.

Reading a bit more seems like its more of a message board roleplay style than i'm usually used to with charecter sheets. Fortunately that happens to be what I spent several years doing when I was younger (mostly Harry Potter admittedly), and sounds more flexible. I'll work on making a charecter concept and sheet, if you still need an applicant?

I would play, if I didn't hate GURPS, but having read WOLT's game for some time, it is a great piece of interactive fiction.

I too have played in this game and it definitely the epitome of a great GURPS game. I never had a game I enjoyed as much, IRL or on a message board, as this one. WoLT does an amazing job with setting, and the other players are awesome as well.

I've been contemplating getting in to GURPs for some time now and what I've read so far makes me want to even more. Unfortunately I'm not certain I'd have the required books in time to make any sort of decent character.

@Blackrazor thanks for the review man, you can always apply as a reader too if you ever want to see the juicey private stuff.
@ Bhack thanks also for the endorsement
@DarkJester There are free options but I'm not allowed to help you with them on this message board.
@ MadrikaIstmal PBP games aren't a meeting but they do have posting requirements. If you are interested in trying a PBP we'd love to give you a try, but really you'd probably be better off trying a smaller game first as this game can be confusing even for the best players, let alone people new to PBP.

To All:

I'm thrilled there was so much interest, I've had literally dozens of responses in a few short days in private messages and I'm afraid I can't take any more applications at this time as I already have so many great players and character concepts in line for the next slots, though we are always on the look out for great new players, so it doesn't hurt to read along (we are always glad to accept more readers) or message the GM with some ideas or even just hang out in our OOC board.

Thanks all!
