Brimstone's Trials

Brimstone's Trials

You must tell me everything! Are you running/walking? Are you keeping an eye out? ...give me a perception check every post! Make ALL checks that you think might be relevant!

You can see clearly in the dim light, but no source of light is evident in the cool stone corridor. The corridor is not square, but winding, and the walls seem to get rougher the further you travel. The twisting passageways prevent you from seeing far ahead.

Soon enough, the passage branches in two different directions.

Hmm things are getting interesting, let's see what tricks these masters have in store for us... Brimstone first prepares himself casting Mage Armor on himself then
Frequent castings while he walks if the spell expires
Guidance.

Before proceeding with his normal walking pace he casts detect magic to get a feel of his surroundings and note anything magical which he expects. Brim will light his torch with his spark cantrip and walk with it lighting his way, once at the intersection he will try to note if there is any wind current making his torch flicker to make him decide which path to take

There does not seem to be any wind. Above the branching corridors, with your spell you see words glowing in the rock. The letters appear to be in common, but are complete gibberish. They are not arcane writings.

Brimstone dallies a moment on the strange writing and then moves on, nothing to apparent difference on the paths before him he decides to go right moving at his steady pace.

After several minutes of walking down the corridor, you come upon a second branching of the ways. This time there are three passageways to choose from, with nothing to distinguish them from one another.

Well this is great... bah

Brim tries to detect magic again and if he notices the strange writing he will try to discern a meaning, if nothing is found he will head right again.

Brim heads down the right passageway. After a short time, you see a red glow on the walls, which seems to be emanating from yourself. You look down to see a red mark on your pendant. A penalty, you surmise. You look up to see that the passageway has dead-ended.

Cursing Brim removes the pendant to see if that provokes any effect and carries it on hand heading back towards the second intersection and taking the center path.

Removing the pendant does not remove the red mark... but another red mark adjacent to the first threateningly begins to oscillate into visibility.

You continue down the center passageway, and come to yet another branching of three passageways. This time, Brim spots a tiny arrow scratched into the ceiling. It points down the right-most passageway.

Taking it as a clue Brimstone follows the tiny arrow's direction without further thought, if presented with another intersection Brim will make sure to search for clues.
