Grumbling about the failure of his last attack and squinting against the effects of the dust, Jared takes a step forward and with a gesture again sends dark shadows, concealed figures cavorting in their depths, streaming at the rats. He only manages to strike one of the two rats, one that had been unhurt before then. It is pushed away from the group by his assault.
John looks at the "man" made wall, 'there's nothing that we can't cut through; I finally understand how warriors get so close to each other.'
John swings his sword with a growl. He strikes the rats, his cold blade seems to crystalize some of the moisture on the rats body, slowing it a bit. The feeling of despair is -- fortunately for Vicky -- fading fast. Her next strike carries much more strength and confidence than the last, bloodying one of the rats. She shifts aside, making room for ZhuGuan from behind.
A glimpse behind her makes her wonder what is happening -- is the elf trying to claw out his own eyes? She hopes he not has gone mad. For now, there is little she can do about it, save hope.
Shaking off the horrifying vision, Allyria stays put, stabbing the next rat and attempting to finish him off, if possible. She, too, is somewhat disturbed by the half-elf's apparent madness, but the sooner the rats are all dead, the sooner they can tend to him.
ZhuGuan screams. A scream of terror and not of pain as he rakes himself trying to rid himself of unseen demons. "Get out... I... Nooo!... Stop... Why... noo!" It's unclear from his cries what nightmare is darkening his reality.
Jack Fox ignores the screams of terror coming from behind him. He moves up to engage the rats who had been pushed around and knocked back by his traveling companions. He bolsters his muscles with the strength of his god, and then swings his flaming sword at the blood-covered rat in front of him. It easily cleaves the rat in twain. The nearby door is open, but only a smattering of light is piercing the entry way. Jack thinks he can make out some furniture in what looks to be a big room, but he can't be certain until more light is brought forward and the thick dust that is still fluttering about settles...
Not put off by the death of the other rats, the last
Dire Rats 2 & 4
two standing move to attack their prey - Jack Fox & Vicky Larissa. Neither rat can manage to get through the defenses of their targets.
The rats are finally starting to fall, and so Allyria slashes out with another concussive blast of psionic energy. It squeals in pain as the psionic blade impales its gut, but it somehow clings to life. Still, the newborn deva is confident that Vicky can finish it off now.
