Rock Fortress

Vicky

Vicky's initial thoughts upon spotting the kobold was 'Hey, something intelligent for once. Perhaps we can get some information on this place.' Then she spotted the strange cat-like creature. 'Hm. That looks familiar.' Before she could pursue that thought, the creature let out a sound so horrific it left her literally dazed.

Through the daze, she watched ZhuGuan and Jared charge impatiently into the room. Before she could react, he was pummeled by rocks, leaving him bloodied and bad. "ZhuGuan!" she cried out, surprising herself with the intensity of her outcry. Suddenly a ball of fire appeared in the hallway, searing her feathers once again. The next part of the nightmare included Jack charging -- and falling -- in the fire. "Jack!" her voice boomed through the corridor.

'Not enough time, not enough time,' her mind raced. While she really wanted to help ZhuGuan, she couldn't leave her poor friend to burn to death. Tugging at the spirit threads all around her, she restored some of her own and ZhuGuan's vigor.

She proceeded to grab Jack's leg, feeling the heat scorch her arm, and tugged as hard as she could to get him out of the fire. He looked badly scorched, but not immediately at risk of dying. 'If I help Jack first, I'll probably loose sight of ZhuGuan in a moment,' her mind figured out through the desperation. 'It's not like Jack is going anywhere...'

Feeling a bit heartless at not helping the most wounded immediately, she grabbed one of the healing potions in her belt. "ZhuGuan! Catch!" she called to the half-elf. Using her hidden talent, she made the healing potion vanish from her hand and appear in ZhuGuan's. "Drink it!" she called to him, if it wasn't obvious enough.

'ZhuGuan and Jared can't handle it alone,' she thought, feeling a hint of despair. "Allyria," she called to the Deva next to her. "Go help them out!" Quickly tending to her wounds, she granted her ally renewed vigor.

Allyria looks at Vicky a little incredulously. Run through the fire? This wasn't some video game where fire damage was numbers marked off a hit point total. This was going to hurt. A lot. Jack had proven that already.

"Help....them? On the other side of the fire?" She sighed, still dazed by the sudden onslaught of who knows what..some kind of strange sound. She takes a deep breath, preparing to rush in there.

Rock Fortress - Round 2

Vicky's initial thoughts upon spotting the kobold was 'Hey, something intelligent for once. Perhaps we can get some information on this place.' Then she spotted the strange cat-like creature. 'Hm. That looks familiar.' Before she could pursue that thought, the creature let out a sound so horrific it left her literally dazed.

The half-elf clutches his head as the keening sounds hit them. He stutters something to the others but it's lost in the thunderous sound. As the sounds fade he catches the source of the noise scurry with what he presumes is it's owner behind a shabby makeshift wall. His ears ringing and still somewhat disoriented he stumbles into the room and takes cover behind some of the makeshift beds.

"Hey," he shouts. "Call off your pet and we won't kill you!" The half-elf grips the bunk bed's post with one hand as he waits for the ringing in his ears to stop. "
Deep Speech: Although, maybe this dungeon will kill you on it's own like those orcs back there.
Illast, diolla dist pleallist fist dist e aust ast'st aust billa dulla aust ceiast dausca." He didn't know if kobolds spoke common. He didn't know kobolds spoke deep speech either. In fact, he didn't realize till just now that he could speak it either. It felt strange to speak it. What an odd sensation...

Stupid kobolds, he thinks to himself, seriously, what does one kobold think it's chances are. Unless it's a kobold lair... that would explain the room with all the grass. No... they have beds here. ZhuGuan continued to fight off his dizziness.

"Wait up!" hollers Jared worried that there might be more to Guan running off other than just charging into a battle. Shadows begin to swirl around him as he moves into the room.

Jared aims his rod at the somewhat hidden krenshar. A cloud of freezing shadow wraps around the animal, turning into a snarling beast that tears into it. The swirling shape continues to circle the krenshar waiting for it to move. Then Jared hears something coming from behind him, and the gravity of ZhuGuan's thoughts take form in an ambush.

"
Draconic:Attack!
Iffeiast!" Shouts a hissing, high-pitched voice from behind the rock wall in the south east section of the room. "
Draconic:Fight with the same spirit that Borryn would have! Kill the intruders! Kill the orc allies!
Vist fist da preialva triscist deiast Cubsuost fast peiatta! Dist da alteactaust! Dist da aust ibruust!" Whoever or whatever it is, is keeping itself fairly hidden.

Suddenly, a swirling ball a chaotic flame appears in the doorway, searing Vicky's feathers once again. The flaming sphere is roughly the size of a man, making it difficult to get past. Worse, the heat is terrible up close. It lashes out at Jared

striking the halfling with a tendril of solid flame.

"Gah!!" he huffs in pain. "Did anyone else catch what he said?"

Before anyone else can even respond to Jared, three
figures emerge at the top of the rock pile. They have picks strapped to their backs, but they start hurling rocks at Guan Yu. The first one up, stubs his toe on the debris causing him to miss his shot. The pain continues for the little creature, making movement a little more painful than it should be. The other two both manage to

pelt ZhuGuan Yu with rocks despite the position he has taken up next to the bunk beds.

Through the daze, Vicky watches ZhuGuan and Jared charge impatiently into the room. Before she could react, he was pummeled by rocks, leaving him bloodied and bad. "ZhuGuan!" she cried out, surprising herself with the intensity of her outcry.

Guan is not feeling very good, and he knows that he and Jared are basically cut off from the others thanks to the large flaming ball. It looks like the kobolds are planning on killing the two of them before dealing with the others based on their attack pattern. Then he notices another pet of the kobolds making it's way towards him and Jared. It is an oddly colored
lizard with a splotch of blue scales here and there. It couldn't be more than a foot long, but it is moving very aggressively towards the two of them.

As John draws his sword he moves up behind Vicky and slashes out at the blue spiny lizard. "Yitiik!!" shouts the voice from behind the rock fortress as the blue lizard is blown up by John Clarke. "Yitiik!
Draconic:NO! NO! NO! NO!
Spae! Spae! Spae! Spae!" The voice sounds enraged now.

"Hey! Hey!" Jack runs towards the room. The tone of his voice indicates that he has something important to say to either his allies or his enemies. He charges headlong into the ball of fire blocking his path. The swirling flames and heat overwhelm the dragon man who does not have flame resistant scales. He collapses INSIDE the burning obstacle, dropping his sword as he falls.

The next part of the nightmare included Jack charging -- and falling -- in the fire. "Jack!" Vicky's voice booms through the corridor.

"He'll burn to death!" shouts Jared. "Someone get him out of there!"

'Not enough time, not enough time,' Vicky's mind races. While she really wanted to help ZhuGuan, she couldn't leave her poor friend to burn to death. Tugging at the spirit threads all around her, she restored some of her own and ZhuGuan's vigor.

She proceeds to grab Jack's leg, feeling the heat scorch her arm, and tugs as hard as she can to get him out of the fire. He looks badly scorched, but not immediately at risk of dying. 'If I help Jack first, I'll probably loose sight of ZhuGuan in a moment,' her mind figures out through the desperation. 'It's not like Jack is going anywhere...' She moves past John Clarke, and stops with Jack at John's feet.

Feeling a bit heartless at not helping the most wounded immediately, she grabs one of the healing potions in her belt. "ZhuGuan! Catch!" she calls to the half-elf. Using her hidden talent, she makes the healing potion vanish from her hand and appear in ZhuGuan's. "Drink it!" she calls to him, if it wasn't obvious enough.

'ZhuGuan and Jared can't handle it alone,' she thinks, feeling a hint of despair. "Allyria," she calls to the Deva next to her. "Go help them out!" She looks down at Jack and notices that the skin that isn't burnt is starting to grow a littl pale. Jack is starting to slip away.

Allyria looks at Vicky a little incredulously. Run through the fire? This wasn't some video game where fire damage was numbers marked off a hit point total. This was going to hurt. A lot. Jack had proven that already.

"Help.... them? On the other side of the fire?" She sighs, still dazed by the sudden onslaught of who knows what... some kind of strange sound. She takes a deep breath, preparing to rush in there.

"They think we are allied with the orcs!" shouts out Jared.

With the trap sprung, there is no longer a reason for the opponents to feign retreat. The Krenshar rushes forward towards Jared. The skin draws back on its face as it prepares to attack. A strange sensation washes over Guan Yu and Jared as the Krenshar moves towards its prey. They suddenly feel fearful of the creature thanks to its strange visage - even Jared who hasn't been afraid of much since his transformation seems a little -- off. Despite the fear being invoked by the krenshar, Jared seems to weather the strange creature as it moves towards him with great ferocity. It swipes with a strong paw at Jared, knocking the halfling to the ground.

As the halfling hits the ground, the light in the area changes to sickening yellows, greens and oranges. Several patches around Jared begin to shimmer, changing to what appears to be a corner in a ruined garden. Four cracked stone pitchers appear in the areas of near-dead grass. Thick red blood weeps from the cracks in the white porcelain. Suddenly, everyone except for the unconscious Jack and the strange little wizard, are overcome with the desire to drink the strange red liquid from the white pitchers. The Krenshar licks it's lips in anticipation, looking away from Jared for the moment.

The kobold slink leaves the safety of it's cover as it begins to head for the delicious drink it has been tempted with. It moves as quickly as it can, but loses some steam before it even makes it to the pitcher. The three kobold miners begin rushing down the side of the rock fortress in turn. The kobold wizard doesn't understand what is happening at the moment. He felt the desire for the pitcher, but was able to fight it off. Trying to protect his teammates from whatever those pitchers contain, he fires off a blue bolt of energy that strikes one of the
DK56
pitchers. It shatters and the liquid bubbles and evaporates as it hits the floor. The kobold behind the rocks smiles at his accomplishment, but it is soon defeated when he watches the pitcher rebuild itself and refill in a matter of seconds. "
Draconic:NO!
Spae!" screeches out the kobold.

The first kobold miner down the rubble picks up a
DJ56
pitcher. He sets the pitcher down after guzzling the strange liquid. The kobold grabs his throat with both hands, dropping the rocks he was holding. He falls to the ground, dead from the drink he so badly craved. The pitcher shimmers a yellow color after being used.

The second miner picks up the same pitcher despite what just happened to his companion. He begins chugging the liquid. When he is done, he wipes the blood-like drink from his mouth staining his sleeve. He too sets the pitcher back down. The second miner meets the exact same results - collapsing to the ground dead. The pitcher shimmers orange. The last miner wastes no time, but he grabs a different
DK56
pitcher. Gulp. Gulp. Gulp. The kobold sets the pitcher back where he got it from and it shimmers green. A healing aura wraps around the kobold miner, and he smiles... then the aura begins to heat up.

Having drank his fill, the warm kobold turns his attention back towards ZhuGuan Yu. He is ready to hurl another stone at the warrior.

John Clarke - Eladrin Revenant Hybrid (Warden/Swordmage)

John licks his lips as he eyes the white pitcher thru the fire. F orgetting about Jack John runs thru the fire almost laughing at the pain. Drawing the power from the earth John swings at the kobold miner. John reaches for the white pitcher and guzzles it down.

John rushes forward, tearing through the fire with ease. He overlooks the first pitcher, setting his eyes on the one right in front of the kobold miner. The kobold miner tries to smash the rock in his hand into John. John easily ducks under the attack when he bends over to pick up the pitcher. He chugs it down and drops the pitcher back at his feet, landing in the brittle dry grass. It shimmers a yellow color briefly. The wine is mixed with the blood of some strange demon or devil. It is foul but intoxicating. He can feel the wine
