Chapter 1: Fodder!

Nurse
The anonymous human known as Nurse launches a set of three shadow-arrows at the lead drow, trying to take out the now-isolated opponent before he can react.

You attack before the blustering drow can even draw their weapons, leaving one of the drow a bloodied mess in the confusion and surprise. Fortune uses her powers to disappear.

However, before you can follow up and finish the fight, there is a flash from the side, and you see a glimpse of some kind of giant glimmering spider. The thing spits a radiant blob of burning webbing at Tarner and Eduardo and then disappears again. As you look around, you realize that the ceiling of this library is literally covered in glimmerweb, heretofore invisible. Then a second spider drops off the ceiling next to Nurse, becoming visible. It bites at the anonymous human hard.

Then the drow spring to attack. One stabs at the badger while a second summons a cloud of darkness and strikes repeatedly at Gruunk. Then the third scrambles straight through the darkness cloud, and you lose track of him. He reappears next to Tarner and stabs hard, threatening to lop the warforged's head clean off his shoulders!

Gruunk move next to Nurse and steels his defenses. In doing so, he heightens the awareness of Nurse as well. He brings the haft of the big axe into the large spider trying to knock it off balance to the ground. A huge pool of blood is forming at the half-orc's feet as two large gashes bleed profusely from his chest. He grits his teeth and tries to fight onward.

Gruunk catches one of the spiders are it drops to the ground, dealing it a grievous wound. Then he steps away from the drow and out of the darkness, though with his wounds, he's unable to connect on a second attack against the giant bug.

One the other side of the cloud of darkness, Badger morphs, becoming a five-foot humanoid wearing leather armor and carrying a huge trident. Behind him, the rabbit cries out, "Badger, no!"

But Badger ignores Rabbit. Instead, he hurls his trident at the only drow not inside the cloud, screaming, "Now ye die, ye wicked bastards!" Then he turns. "Some things are worth dyin' for, Rabbit."

Eduardo curses as the badger transforms and immediately shows its uselessness by launching what can only be described as an extremely unmotivated group of insects at the drow. Great! he yells out, moving away from the cloud of darkness that just sprang up in front of him, we're saved now, for sure! The sarcasm is almost hanging in the air from the magics he's summoning.

He turns to Grunk, yelling at the barbarian with a voice fortified by magic, stay up, and keep fighting that spider. I don't need to be thinking about it as well! In fact .. . The bard makes a quick motion with his sword towards the spider, spitting out a stream of filthy curses at it that would make most people stagger back even if they weren't reinforced by a heavy dose of arcane power. The spider, capable of understanding the exact nature of the curses, and the claims they're making about the shape of the egg it was hatched from (as well as the species of the father) because of the magic of the spell, loses focus on the battle as its emotions rage unchecked.

Nurse
The anonymous human steps into Gruunk's shadow, reappearing on the other side of the great spider the half-orc is fighting, and attempts to drive his fullblade into the foul beast's back. If it hits, it will be quite a blow.

Tarner struggles against the web. "Short out my ocular sensors, will you? Hit me again, I dare you! Backup sensors, don't fail me now..." he says, focusing his fury on where he thinks one of the drow might be. He then resumes struggling against the web, although he gets nowhere in his endeavors.

Eduardo's magical attack hurts the only remaining visible spider, but it's Nurse who really catches it off-guard. Though he himself isn't fully in-balance when he strikes, he nevertheless gets in a powerful shot, lopping the spider's head clean off. The thing dies instantly, leaving you in much less dire straits than you were mere moments ago.

Fortune

Fortune releases a burst of mental pain in pure desperation, at where she gilmpsed the spider that caused the blindness. She tries to step back, but the web from the spider holds her in place, adding to her desperation. The sounds of battle around her makes it very hard to know whether they are winning or losing.
