GREAT DESTINY [SPIRITUAL] (5 POINTS)
The kharmic cycle has some great purpose in store for you,
and the Celestial Order will conspire to keep you alive, no
matter what, until your destiny can be fulfilled. Once per session,
when you suffer Wounds that would kill you, you are
reduced to a single Wound remaining instead. This will only
happen once per session, as there are limits to the extent that
the Heavens will intervene in mortal affairs.

You possess a special weapon created by the master weaponsmiths
of your Clan, and considered to be an icon of all
who bear the mon of your Clan. The cost of each individual

Because of some great service you or perhaps your parents
performed on behalf of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven has
placed you under his protection. You may not purchase this
Advantage unless you possess an Honor Rank of 6 or higher.
So long as your Honor does not drop below 6.0, no one of
Honor Rank 5 or higher may attack you unless you attack
them first; their rigid code of honor simply will not allow
them to blatantly go against the Emperor’s wishes. Willingly
entered duels ignore the effects of this Advantage. Imperial
characters may purchase this Advantage for 3 points.

VIRTUOUS [MENTAL] (3 POINTS)
You embrace virtue in your every thought and action.
You possess one additional rank of Honor above your
normal starting value (as determined by your School).


-DISADVANTAGES-
CAN’T LIE [MENTAL] (2 POINTS)
You are psychologically incapable of telling a lie, perhaps because
it has been so thoroughly drilled into your nature by your honorable
family. Not only can you not tell a lie, but if someone in your
presence tells a lie and you know that it is untrue, you must succeed
at a Willpower Trait Roll (TN 20) or immediately correct them. This
can cause untold difficulty in court settings and can lead to complete
disgrace if you are not careful.

IDEALISTIC [MENTAL] (3 POINTS)
You adhere closely to the code of Bushido, perhaps too
closely, and you have a hopelessly na´ve view of the world
and how things work. You have impossible standards that
not even the most heroic individual could hope to meet,
much less you. Whenever you lose Honor, the loss is increased
by 1 point. This Disadvantage is worth 3 points to Lion characters.

-TECHNIQUES-
RANK 1: The Lion's Roar
Warriors of the Matsu School respect their Akodo cousins’ leadership
skills, but they know that a furious attack often simply
overwhelms an enemy. You add your Honor Rank to all damage
rolls. Whenever you assume the Full Attack Stance, you
may move an additional 5 feet per Turn in addition to the bonus
you receive from the Stance. (This does not allow you to
move farther than your maximum move per Turn.)

RANK 2: Purity in Purpose and Deed
The Jade Legionnaires accompany the Jade Magistrates
against the most dangerous, most insidious, and most
numerous of the Empire’s magical threats. If your Honor
Rank is higher than that of your opponent, you may
add the difference between the two to the total of all
your attack and damage rolls made against that opponent.
For the purposes of this Technique, all creatures
and other opponents who do not possess an Honor
Rank are assumed to have an Honor Rank of 0.

BIOGRAPHY:
Of Toturi Mitsunari himself, not too much is known as he had just recently passed his gempukku and has had little time to establish his own reputation outside of his father's. What is known is this: he killed his first man (a monster) at the age of seven while defending his land during the Battle of the River of Gold. Mitsunari went to his father’s original school the accredited Matsu Berserker School where, during skirmishes, he earned his nickname
Literally: Dark/Black Angel
Kurotenshi. It is also known that during this time he also displayed enough skill to where even his superiors labeled him as a skilled fighter as well as a well-rounded tactician. Other than those few facts it can be said, by all who have seen him, that the samurai carries himself with an Honor that is above reproach.

With these virtues as well as his ancestral past and protection gifted to him by the Empress, it is only a matter of time before this samurai builds a lasting legacy...

- Even in times of despair and desperation, it has been noted that Toturi Mitsunari has held to his Honor.

- His mother, who still survives, would say he is much like his father in appearance and in action. His father, if still alive would say that he has made a fine samurai additionally he would say that he has made him proud.

- To restore the Toturi name as an actual family, and to where he would be daimyo.

- Not very at the moment.

- In battle against a much superior foe, like his father before him. This is a samurai's death.

You'd get earth 3 for free and as a result raising willpower would be 16 to go to 4 instead of 12 to go to 3. So find 4 extra xp or take back 12!

The +1 Willpower was for this (p. 228 Core):
"The Toturi Family: +1 Willpower

I spent 12xp on Agility.
So my EARTH should now be 3, with a Stamina: 3 and a Willpower: 4 (family bonus)

The samurai who would one day become Toturi Ishida, served Emperor Toturi honorably in the Fourth Imperial Legion as a nameless Lion Deathseeker. During his stint in the Legion he time and again proved his worth by leading the fray and thrusting himself into the thickest part of skirmishes. It matter not how the battle was going or how ferocious it roared, the nameless Deathseeker always emerged alive and still hungry for action. It was because of his reckless self-abandon that he made a name for himself as
Literally: Dark/Black Mane
Tegamikuro and with the name he quickly made his way through the Legion's ranks. It wasn't long before he had found his way to the side of his commander as part of his personal retinue.

Beside his commander, "Tegamikuro" had learned that not only was a battle decided by the might of it's warriors, but also the intellect of those who oversaw the action. Under his eye the Deathseeker studied warfare and strategy, both foreign and domestic. He honed his intellect and fashioned it like his body, it was only a matter of time that he could outmaneuver his commander in the game of go. Life was prosperous and peaceful during this time, this all changed during what became known as the Rain of Blood.

Iuchiban had returned, and made his move against the empire. The Legions were in full force and stood together against the mad blood-sorcerer. The Fourth Imperial Legion was stationed near the northern mountains, where a secret stash of maho-tsukai were gathering. When this became known to Emperor Toturi III, he placed Isawa Sezaru in a position of authority and gave him permission to commandeer whatever resources he desired to combat the Bloodspeakers. Sezaru gathered all the shugenja he could as well as the most of the Fourth Imperial Legion before marching of to war in what became known as the Battle of the Northern Wall Mountains.

During the battle "Tegamikuro" fought bravely by his commanders side but soon, like the other retainers, his commander was wounded. "Tegamikuro" single-handedly routed the remaining forces and took up the Fourth Imperial Legion's banner as well as its momentary command. The Deathseeker had bought enough time for Isawa Sezaru and the other remaining forces to retreat further off into the mountains, so that they could counter-attack. If not for this precious time, the Battle of the Northern Wall Mountains would have been a failure and the Emperor's brother would have died.

For his bravery and courage the nameless Deathseeker was called before Toturi III and pardoned of his shameful past. Furthermore he was given the Toturi name along with a sword and a stretch of land near the River of Gold as his own. Toturi Ishida, ever grateful, humbly accepted all and continued serving the Emperor until his untimely death in 1168.

Although the empire now had a new imperial line and an Empress on the throne, Toturi Ishida along with a handful of others, still alive with the Toturi name, were graciously allowed to keep their name and some even their position for their service to Rokugan. Toturi Ishida remained in his current position and served to the empire up until his death during the Destroyer War, during the Battle of the River of Gold. The man once nameless fought an unknown force with ferocity unseen even in his youth. The brave samurai was buried in a grave near his home and his son was presented with his father's possessions.

Tenshiken as well as his dark armor. As a surprise even to himself the Empress rewarded him with the name of his father's family upon the completion of his gempukku for his father's service during the Battle of the River of Gold, and the protection of the land there-surrounding. The problem in-so taking the name, and the protection that came with it, was the known sacrifice of never becoming daimyo of his family, as the Toturi were not Lion samurai.

From his point of view, Toturi Mitsunari had everything to gain from the Empress' gift and nothing to lose. The Toturi were all but gone and should he make a name for himself from nothing, like his father before him, Mitsunari could build a house and become its ruler. As he saw it, he himself was master of his destiny and it was he who would shape it.

Of his father's belongings passed on to Toturi Mitsunari, nothing is as special yet as mysterious as his katana "Tenshiken." It is rumored to be made from metal that had fallen to earth from the sky. Not only that, but it was signed by a crafter simply named Kuoan. For such an exquisite blade and craftsmanship a crafter unheard of could not have made it. There is truly more to the story than what it seen.
