No the art isn't mine, but it fit the character, original artist info and such is left on there because, well it would be horribly rude to remove it. ^^
Standing six feet tall and with a lean build Corynn doesn't stand out that much at first. In fact he's always been quite happy that he was just another face in the crowd more often than not. But the years in the military changed that, giving him injuries that eventually turned into scars. One of the more visible scars coming from a sword that broke his nose and cut a deep gash across his face. Between that; his sharp, green eyes; and the short, dark beard he has a face that people tend to remember.
He favors darkly colored clothes that are thick enough to keep him warm in even the coldest of winter and wouldn't be caught dead in metal armor, much preferring leather for both being lighter, warmer, and overall being less likely to turn you into a human icicle.
Despite having been dealt a bad hand in life he's not bitter about it and recognizes that most of it was his own doing. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have some regrets; he regrets leaving home without a word and he regrets getting kicked out of the army And even if he's not bitter, he is a bit jaded with it all. But he's overall not a bad guy to be around. He's fairly open and friendly, likes a good laugh and as long as you don't mind his near constant smoking and absolute refusal to touch any kind of alcohol you're not likely to get any troubles from him.
Well unless you're actually looking for a fight, if that's the case he'll be happy to oblige.
Despite this he is NOT likely to get into a fight with anyone else in the party. He'll trade jokes and jabs, and if he doesn't like someone, might throw an insult or two around, but he's spent years in the army and has learned that no matter what you think of the others you don't punch someone who's supposed to watch your back in battle, it'll just end up biting you in the rear later.
Corynn was born in Scurdaeg but lost both his parents to Xarylimthys and Briarios attack when he was only ten years old. For the first few years friends of the family took him in but as he started to hit puberty he started to get out of control. He hung around the wrong crowds, didn't come home for days on end, and eventually he didn't go home at all. That's probably his biggest regret these days, but at that point he was to deep into drinking and causing trouble to care. He kept that up for several years but when he was nineteen his luck ran out and he got caught. He hadn't really done any one serious thing, but all the small things had added up to a rather impressive pile of trouble and he got forced into the Queen's Army to atone for his past transgressions.
What really surprised him was that after the initial culture shock he realized he actually liked it. Yes they forced him to straighten up, and yes they forced him to stop his drinking (something that quickly turned into chain-smoking instead.), but they managed to take a messed up kid and turn him into a man. Perhaps not the most sensible man, and most certainly a somewhat jaded man, but still a man who actually felt a certain amount of pride over his training and his job.
After his forced service was over he actually went back and re-enlisted, but the gods must love irony, because he managed to get kicked out again after getting caught in the middle of a brawl between fellow soldiers and trying to break it up, and with his record it was assumed he had fallen back into old habits. It wasn't enough to get him banished, but he was branded a troublemaker and was told to find something else to do.
Being near the bottom of society he only recently started to hear rumors about the Queen looking for adventurers and after tracking down some information other than the wild rumors heard in the taverns he's decided that something like this might give him some sense of direction again. Besides the no matter how harsh the Iron Queen is, she can't possibly be worse than his old captain. At the very least she should be able to pay better, and hopefully offer less ridiculous work hours.
