Physical Description: Saltatore is a rugged, if that can be for an elf, looking elf. His blonde hair reaching to his shoulders with his piercing green eyes blending into the foilage of the forest that has been his families home for so long as he can remember. He's not very tall, standing at only 5'3, and he's as slender as a twig, weighing in at 116 pounds. But he has the grace and intelligence of a hawk. A hawk, who happens to be his traveling companion that he saved as a young hatchling that fell from a tree. He nursed it back to health and it has been a loyal pet ever since.
Background: Saltatore grew up in the forest with his father. His mother having passed away at childbirth. He was raised to survive and flourish on his own. He taught him to live off the forest as well as the "kindness" of others. His life was good. One thing that he did not know that his father refused to talk about was why they lived alone in the woods, and where the others of his kind or the others in general, of any kind were. All that he ever found buried deep in the woods were plants and game that he enjoyed hunting. This also begged the question as to why his father showed him how to live off of others earnings, when there was no one around to steal from or even bargain with. Yet as time passed he let the idle thoughts fall aside.

On a positive side Saltatore became increasingly skilled with a bow. He loved hunting with his bow and could take down almost any game he came across assuming it came within range. His father was also a brilliant huntsman and very skilled with a bow. This is where Saltatore knew that he had gotten his skill. Well time had passed and Saltatore grew into young adulthood and he knew the time would be soon for him to go off on his own and live a life he deamed fit for himself. Where that was though he knew not, for he knew little of what was beyond the woods. There was a distancing between Saltatore and his father for they both knew the time was coming, but neither wished to discuss it. So to ease some of the tension Saltatore decided he would go on a hunting trip and give them each the space they needed. He decided to go for 3 days and took the provisions and weapons and all that he would need which ended up being his basic gear, longbow, three quivers of arrows (because he always practiced his shooting when he was waiting for game), and a few rations to hold him over, as well as a dagger to clean any of the kills he made. So after gathering his stuff he made his way out. About two days into his journey and he had not seen a single animal. He started to get impatient and call it an early trip when he noticed something off in the distance, a deer! A prize that would feed him and his father for a long while. He tracked the animal to a watering hole and when it lowered it's head to drink he let loose 3 arrows, one to the hind of the animal, one to the heart, and one to the head. Each landing before the animal hit the ground. He rushed over and eyed his kill. He did not much enjoy killing, but he enjoyed shooting so much that the killing just became a side bar for him. Well he settled down and began cleaning his kill and that's when it happened.

He glanced up into the early evening sun and saw smoke. Not from a chimney like during the winter at his house, but a thick smoke heavy against the clear sky, much like that of a forest fire. His mind raced back to his father and his home and within an instance he had gathered his things on him as best he could and then he darted off toward home, leaving the deer by the lake. By the time he had arrived home he had seen what he had feared for a long time. Instead of a forest fire there was his house on fire, with things in front of it holding weapons. Then he saw what his eyes pleaded to see, his father in the front of their home with his bows loosing arrow after arrow at the dog looking people and the yelps of pain that they let out when the arrows sank into their flesh. He hollered out to his father who became distracted as he scanned the horizon for his only son. This was all the time the Gnolls needed and they were on him, the three that remained had clawed and bit at him as well as sunk their weapons into his exposed flesh. He hollered out in pain, tears staining his torn clothes. Saltatore was beside himself. Rage had built and paired with fury and he loosed a volley of arrows 4 arrows impailed in each of the remaining gnolls who squeeled then died. He rushed to his dying father's side. His tears mixed with his father's blood and he wept openly as his father held him and told him to make east for several days then he would come upon a town. From there he would be able to start anew and live his life. Saltatore cried more, he couldn't think of living without his father's guidance and love. He knew there was nothing he could do and that there was nothing left for him here. Looking at his house he saw what was left of his possessions go up in flames. Then he looked back at his father as the life in his eyes left and he knew his father was dead.

He did not have time nor the equipment to bury his father so he did what he thought would be the next best thing and carried him into the burning home and laid him on the couch and kissed his forehead. Then he ran out and watched the rest of the night and into the morning as his house burnt to cinders. Then he gathered his belongings and started the journey for the "village" his father had promised him would be to the east after several days travel.
Wealth: Nothing but his weapons and his clothes on his back.

(1) Name - Neera Corban
(2) Race - Human
(3) Class - Starting level is 3, with 3100XP.
(4) Alignment - Any; include a one-sentence explanation of why the character is that alignment. Remember that even evils and chaotics have to be team players.
(5) Attributes -
(6) Age - 16
(7) Physical Description - Neera is a young woman with short hair, a blonde intermixed with silver. She has cobalt blue eyes and an air of confidence about her. The hilt of her greatsword can easily be seen over her shoulder and her white scale mail armour is plain as day. While her stature is lith, her muscles are clearly defined on her frame. She currently stands at a height of 5'8, but still seems to be growing.

Looking for creativity and depth here.

(8) Background - Neera grew up not knowing her father, but luckily, her uncle made for a nice surrogate. Her mother and aunt own and work in one of the towns Inns, The Restless Sword. Neera helped out when she was younger, but preferred to spend her time with her uncle and cousins in the Smithy. Her mother did not deny her this one pleasure and her uncle taught her the craft as well as he could.

Her cousins all learned how to wield a weapon of their choice. They laughed when little Neera picked a greatsword and tried to lift it. They don't laugh now, as age and years of working at the smithy have given her the strength she needed to wield the large sword. She's nearing her 17th birthday and as much as she has loved growing up with her family and proving to her cousins she's just as tough as they are, the road has started to call to her.

2-3 paragraphs (typical) describing your family, occupation, and childhood exploits. If you would like to add secret histories that are not known to the town (or perhaps even your character), include this information in private text. The background must explain how you came to be among the handful of militiamen defending Old Badenshore.

(9) Wealth - Based on your family history, propose an appropriate amount of wealth your character has access to. No masterwork, special materials, or magic items.

A couple of points I'd like to throw out there for those of you who are massaging your apps (or even those of you who are done!):

(1) Given where the game story stands, it's going to be tricky to insert female characters into a group that is effectively a lost army squad trying to join back up with their main unit. Not saying it can't be done, but if you're playing a female just because it's interesting and not because you really care about your gender selection, you may want to reconsider. The odds are very slim I would accept two additional female characters.

(2) Background stories do not need to be tomes; a few paragraphs are sufficient provided you get across the following points:
* One Ally
* One Enemy
* One Short Term Goal (or A Source of Internal Conflict)
* One Long Term Goal (or A Source of External Conflict)
* A Brief (2-3) Character History that helps define your character's motivations and attitudes.

I'm continuing to watch eagerly and will make selections, probably on Tuesday.

Name: Korwyn Tiernan
Race: Human
Class: Paladin of Slaughter
Alignment: Chaotic Evil - Due to rigorous training, Korwyn seeks no alternative but to behave against the grain. Though not a heartless bastard seeking the most difficult of any possible choice is in his nature. He loves a good fight, the bloodier the better, and seeks no other option unless it would result in certain death.
Age: 18
Physical Description: Korwyn is a powerfully built man at 6'0" and 212lbs, corded muscle links every bone; each movement graceful and confident as if empowered by unerring self-righteousness. He has a cruel stance, reflected by a posture that suggests he'd rather crush a man than confide in him. Though handsome his face belies a very wicked heart, a smile full of fangs as it were. His green eyes glowed with an almost unearthly light, and bore deep into the souls of those around him.
